"The movie’s main character, Meg Murray, is described in the novel as a redheaded girl, but DuVernay cast African-American actress Storm Reid. DuVernay’s Meg is supposed to be biracial, with a white father (played by “Star Trek” actor Chris Pine) and a black mother (played by “Black Mirror" actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw).

DuVernay, who directed the civil rights film "Selma," told the New York Times she selected Australian actor Levi Miller to play Meg’s friend “because that was so powerful, to show a white boy following a black girl” throughout the movie.

It doesn’t help that “A Wrinkle in Time” must compete with “Black Panther,” which in addition to being acclaimed for featuring an overwhelmingly black cast has also gotten stellar reviews just for being a great movie."

:wtf:

She had the opportunity to direct Black Panther. Her ego fukked up that opportunity. She thought she was bigger than Marvel Studios.

"DuVernay went on to say that the work her name is attached to is important to her and if she needed to compromise too much, a movie wouldn’t “be an Ava DuVernay film.” "

Thank every god in existence she turned it down.

BP is the greatest MCU film of all time and one of the best superhero films of all time.
Ryan Coogler and team did a fantastic job

I don’t know the first thing about the content of the movie but At the end of the day a black director was given a big budget to lead an ambitious project. Off GP it should be supported because black people winning today can open opportunities for tomorrow.

This movie isn’t Black Panther but if she fails with this project, she’s not gonna have the opportunity to make her own Black Panther in the future if she wanted to. Support her black ass.:yeshrug:
Oh, I'd "support" her black ass all night if she wants.:takedat:

she takes more photos and does more photo shoots than actresses and actors...she's even got her own doll.

very rare for a director to be this vain and out in front of the camera
She's pretty......I'll allow it. :ehh:

shyt like this is not going to get black people to support your film.

She was honestly better off keeping the chracters white like in the books, it still wouldnt have beat BP but probably made more money.
Relying on intersectionality is stupid, teen white girls arent going to watch a black girl lead.
Remember how toxic they were about Rue in Hunger Games?

This bytch directs some biopic that any mtv video director can do in his sleep and suddenly thinks she’s the next Spielberg :dead:

Also stop trying to make this movie black. There’s nothing black about a movie featuring a mixed race girl and her two white friends looking for her white father. Apart from broke wenches on Twitter, who does this appeal to?

Black feminists always want to seperate the black women struggle from being black in general. Its like they see themselves as a whole different community from the rest of us.

But their goal is to co-exist with white men and breed themselves out. Which is why white feminists tolerate them but won't stand beside them.
