They're going to have to have a TV deal to start out. Netflix isn't and will never be an option, so either Hulu or Amazon would have to pony up for live content. In a couple of years they might be able to go to a streaming service and bypass TV all together, but for the short term at least they would have to have some sort of TV deal.

Well, it's not going to be Hulu. They've got a deal with the WWE. I recently signed up for Hulu, and found that they not only have NXT on Hulu (current episodes too, not just from when it was on Hulu exclusively), but it also looks like they cut an hour and a half version of Raw for them, too. WWE isn't about to let someone else roll in.

And Amazon is an option, but if we're being for real, original content on Amazon doesn't get the buzz you think it would. Remember when Dojo Pro launched on Prime Video over the summer? No? Neither do other people, it seems. Also, you already know there'll be a ton of people bytching about needing Prime to watch.

I legit think their ceiling for now is B/R Live. I can't think of any other major platform or network that's content hungry enough to jump into what's essentially an indy promotion with money until further notice.

From the pieces I've put together, it's expected they will have a straight weekly TV deal and are working on a bigger streaming platform deal for the big shows instead of PPVs since the belief is that platform is dying.

TBS/TNT for TV with the streaming stuff on Bleacher Report Live seems to make the most sense.

During a recent appearance on WFAN Radio in New York City on Friday afternoon, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross made a big announcement regarding All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

"Good Ole' J.R." revealed that AEW will be premiering a new weekly two-hour television show on a network to-be-named in October.

"[AEW] is overwhelming for me," Ross said. "To be 67 years old and be anointed the voice of a brand that's gonna be debuting in October on national television on a major cable network, which can't be named now. When people hear what network we're going on, they're gonna be doubly excited. It's a network we can all find."

Ross added, "I think what they're shooting for is a more athletic presentation. It will hopefully be less eye rolling than the sophomore drama class trying to convince you in a 10 minute promo of anything they're saying. It's too long. Our audience can't handle that."

I would say it's probably likely that's what they're going to go with, maybe even just keep it on Youtube with their other stuff, because all that big talk about major TV stations and weekly shows went from "Weekly shows on the best network" to "Maybe we could run a show on TV every couple of weeks" to "We don't REALLY need TV" to just dropping any talk about it all together.

The real carny way :russ:

As long as Excalibur is the lead play by play they'll be fine. But if fukking JR is "the voice" of AEW...that shyt ain't gonna go well.

The majority of people are still hesitant on calling out Ross for how fukking awful he's been in the last 3 years or so, but if he does a weekly show the backlash will come rather soon. We'll see how a 67 year old Jim Ross will take the criticism and the orders of a boss like Cody once shyt starts getting ugly.

I think J.R would be fine as a color commentator btw, if he's gonna be in the booth, that should be his role.

*Remembers the shytty school play the Bucks and Golden Lovers tried to put at SSE*

*Remembers every BTE segment I've seen*

I mean, this is full "protect the business and promote your company, brother" level of carnyness.
