Listening to all this for the first time and it’s crazy how many samples they got to first

Bitties in the BK Lounge had 3 just in that song

You can hear Punks Jump up to get Beat down, Hi hater, and that Yung Wun song with DMX all in there
Can hear Hay by Crucial conflict in Millie Pulled a Pistol on Santa

Man, woman, and child
Bout time. I been able to go back and revisit these songs that I grew up on. My big sister was a huge De La fan when she went thru her early 90s conscious phase
:heh:

I forgot how many tough ass beats they had. Prince Paul took sampling to another level. I still trip off that yodeling sample on Potholes on My Lawn

Not de La but it’s native tongues and once again it seems like they did it first.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Yikes at what was done to Cool Breeze. I need to just find the OG CD and get that shyt.
I probably shouldn’t be this sad because I can’t claim to be a day 1 De La fan who has been listening to their shyt for years and years—but with their shyt on streaming and actually giving their full albums burn it absolutely makes me sad to see the changes on this track. Takes a little bit of the spirit and character away. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that the music is available largely intact but it hurts me soul when art is compromised because of money, politics, or legal shyt. Feels like history has been lost or at the very least altered.

People want their bread, I get it. But gotdamn man. :to:

Having the original pressings does give it value now though.

About to go get my copy off Ebay.

Going back through their catalog, i realize they are the dopest nonsensical rappers ever. Alot of their songs are just phrases and lil interludes that are not connected. Its dope and confusing

I'm a De La Soul fan. I have all their albums on CD and Vinyl but I am glad new generations get to hear their brilliant music.

Was just listening to those AOI albums. Timeless.
