This is what I was thinking. The "boxing" Peterson was doing was not what Mayweather (or Rigo) does. They can not be the aggressor, avoid your offense, yet still entirely get the better of you and control the pace of the fight. Peterson did a less effective version of Lara vs. Canelo. He totally avoided engaging and was moving around. With Danny being the aggressor in stalking and throwing more punches, and Danny landing equal to slightly more punches, I think Danny deserved most of the first part of the fight. It would not have take much for Lamont to steal those rounds clearly.
When the fight went toe to toe, Lamont was clearly the better fighter. A little more activity and setting his feet early on and Lamont would have nothing to complain about, he would have won easily visually and on the cards.
I think people need to take into consideration that this is what makes one fighter better than another also. how they approach a fight. everybody has a belt these days but I am careful at who I call a champion. Swift was able to get a win/draw based more off of what Peterson didnt do. if Peterson really wanted to take his career to the next level, he shouldve fought for 12 rounds. anything less is below true world championship caliber performance. he had too many ups and down in his career to not come out and leave it all in the ring.
