I think he may survive but i did post that he had smartphone with GPS and i think he is dealing with Lydia because he is no longer getting money from Walt or Jesse and most likely put Todd and Lydia together to continue the business, i am also thinking since he told Walt to throw his old cell away he may have given a phone with a GPS chip so he could track the money, why would Saul meet Jesse in the desert when he could meet in his office or go by Jesse home, Saul is scheming or under pressure by Lydia and the goons to sell Walt and Jesse Mike being killed by Walt is probably a forgone conclusion to Saul/Jesse. 10 of Mike's guys were killed in jail. They knew that would never happen if Mike was still breathing air.

I think the combination of knowing that and the kid being killed in the desert is what has Jesse going nuts.

Gus mentions his family when he and Walt have dinner at his house the first time. He talks about he rarely fixes the stew their earring because his kids don't like it. And Gus is extremely meticulous and calculating, I'm sure a few whores in the house of the Don your planning to Kill wasn't on his mind at the moment breh...

Why would he let himself get distracted like that, he in enemy territory out manned and out gunned, he had to be on point. The reason they never showed his wife or kids is because Gus followed this rule, never leave work where your head rest, he was so cautious in that, no one knew where he had his family and kids, that way they could not be used as a weakness against him. This is where he is smarter than Walt, he never let his family come in too harms way.

I think it's a little misplaced to go SO far into these characters back stories....but as far as Gus, he said something like 'A man provides for his family even when he isn't wanted', and it's pretty easy to imagine a drug boss being separated from his family, because of his business, and his wife and children living a totally separate life from him, but supported financially by his endeavors.
