this was a horrible debate and the market institute sounded stupid...until the very end. The actual history is that the 70% tax rate probably did very little to grow the economy for 1950 - 1980 and it was actually all the innovation compared to the rest of the world that drove the improvement . Currently CEO's make way more than before because they are now larger corporations and CEOs are GLOBAL CEOs.

France has a progressive-esque tax and they have large income disparity and high unemployment....this is a faux argument and you guys are falling for it. Neither side can fix the issues via taxation of the rich, but Dems want the common people to blame the rich in order to drum up votes.

It should stay a progressive tax system. But put new brackets at the top going to 50% or wherever

Raise the corporate tax back... raise capital gains tax which is where the rich are making money
