this isnt discussing the meaning?

Intense criticism ensued, and some of Ocasio-Cortez's staffers and advisers attempted to walk back the "unwilling to work" line.

First, one of her surrogates said the document was "doctored" and circulated by Republicans, then her chief of staff said the line was from a draft that was never intended for publication.

In a tweet on Saturday evening, Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, explained that the line was written with specific recipients in mind, such as retirees.

"We were essentially thinking about pensions and retirement security," he said. "E.g. economic security for a coal miner who has given 40 years of their life to building the energy infra of this country, but who may be not be willing to switch this late in his career."

It was right after they said it was doctored by republicans

There's like 10 excuses they came up with and this was one .

It's like a mad scramble to see what sticks, you have to at least admit the poor handing of this

That Fekket has the most punchable face next to Stephen Miller

I Googled some links and posted , but I read these from local papers . This is a strawman , you're making up bullshyt to distract from the facts . I can post the same links from the news outlets of you're choosing
this dude ballwashes billionaires, fear mongers about ms13, he sounds like trump "were liberating towns in long island" lmao gtfoh and he said its a "running joke" that aoc is the left sarah palin, thats only a running joke in right wing circles, but hes not a alt right troll

It's in liberal papers too. Stop building strawmans

totally agree it was handled badly, i even said in either this or another thread, that the wording sounds stupid.i dont think they shouldve ever used the phrase unwilling to work, especially knowing that the perception is shes a crazy socialist. i admit if they make political bad moves, i even said warren is fukking up, though i did like her speech recently.

Who would have thought that they didn't just arbitrarily throw a line in there like that without it having some sort of context behind it? The fervor over that bit always seemed overblown as hell to me.

i definitely wanted to wait for context on it when I first heard it, but i was kind of like what is she saying here ? they semi got me too, not that i thought she was just giving out free income but i just couldnt figure out what was the reason for the wording. also i was like why is this in a bill about the green new deal, as youre saying it seemed arbitrary but when you get down to the specifics yes it makes sense to be in the bill since it deals with people that are close to retiring and worked jobs that dealt with energy sources that would be abandoned if the deal was in place.

Yeah, it was definitely too damned vague to get a good read on. My speculation on it was off base by a mile couldn't draw any link to green aspects either :francis:. When the real resolution dropped, it only made me more confused because I couldn't draw a connection anywhere. That clarification makes sense though.

Blaiso is speaking facts and those are aimed in the rookie AOC. So while he's poking amazon for not fighting, he's also chiding AoC for being a naive Moron ,which is whar I've stated emphatically

@storyteller
She had nothing to do with this tho. This is not her district actually (do your research:lolbron:). She just celebrated after the fact. State legislators made the stink and instead if working with them Amazon took their ball and went home. :yeshrug:

These cats can try to frame it like a negative, but it was the community that came together to fight it from the residents to the local politicians. The people who wanted to make sure they weren't displaced from their homes, overlooked or screwed over spoke up together and Amazon took an uncompromising approach instead of taking steps to ease their worries.

Exactly. The media is just tying it to her because that is what will get clicks. Nobody outside of NYC knows who the hell Michael Gianaris or Andrea Stewart-Cousins are.

she did not just celebrate after the fact, she was leading the charge well in advanced...she bandwagon jumped , like she always does and that's why everyone is holding her foot to the fire. Now she's on this "it's not my district" shyt ...she wasn't saying that a few weeks ago.

this is from the post back in November

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is assuming a leadership role in efforts to combat Amazon’s plan to build a new headquarters in Queens, an initial test of the incoming House freshman's clout in her home city.

The 29-year-old progressive darling headlined a closed-press, standing-room-only meeting of activists in lower Manhattan on Monday, near the site of the Occupy Wall Street protests in Zuccotti Park. The meeting’s purpose, according to those who attended, was to strategize about how to kill Amazon’s deal to build a headquarters in Long Island City — a deal that proponents say would bring at least 25,000 well-paying jobs in exchange for roughly $3 billion in subsidies.

so you're being quite dishonest here...a rarity

Of.course we know who he's talking about .

Lose 25k jobs for your districts and money in flowing and tax revenue and then March around like you did something heroic

But you said it was her district. So who was dishonest first? I was following your lead. :mjlit:

Seriously I didn't know. Thanks for informing me. I stand corrected.

she stepped out there and put it on the platform. She was out with the "megaphone" so why are you now trying to shift blame? The guy who started this had no power to undo the deal...it was all AOC and her supporters like you, who created this whirlwind of stupidity and crashed a deal that would have turned queens into the tech hub

the way she was fighting for it, I initially thought it was hers (because it was in queens). So in one of my posts I incorrectly attributed it to her district but I since corrected that. Bottom line - she should have kept her fat mouth shut for a change.
