That's where we don't agree and won't. To characterize this as grandstanding rather than calling attention to one of the absolute core issues that she ran on is to come into this conversation without knowing her core constituency which was built on ideas that didn't have a voice (abolish ICE is a clear example of this). I hope you have this same energy for Joe Manchin and other Dems who vote against their own party at times when the bill will pass anyway so they know they won't get dinged but also get a chance to do something that their specific constituents will appreciate.

I would have dinged any Democrat who grandstanded about the shutdown not once qualifying that they wouldn't vote for a bill with ice funding and then turn around and not vote for it

It's really this simple.

Her district gives two rat tails about Ice . I have .I idea how you guys are defending a vote against funding the government after the grandstanding she's been doing. This is no different then Trump not signing a bill because he didn't get his wall funding . I stick by that parallelism and you can argue until you're red in the face it's the same thing

You from the Bronx or pretending to know something you have no knowledge of again? The DSA helped put her on, they care about abolish ice for sure. The idea we’re defending is simple, she ran on abolish ice and was able to call attention to that issue without harming her party in any way whatsoever. Until you stop pretending you know her constituents’ wants while ignoring that she literally won an election running on the issue you’re claiming they don’t care about, everything else you have to say is irrelevant.

now you're making up shyt. NEver said any of those things.
never said those areas were gentrified, I said she won't partily due to gentrification and latin influx.

i don't even believe i brought up "Throgs neck" , if I did quote me...

never said every areas is a hipster neighborhood, but there's been in flux of hipsters thanks to gentrification

i'll link you

google.com

again stop playing "gotcha" and actually make a point because you're just flailing away saying stuff I didn't say or totally miscommunicating what I said because you don't know wtf you're talking about
There is no gentrification in her district in the parts you named besides Astoria. That's where you are wrong. Throgs Neck and Country Club which you did mention are basically the same area. No one calls it Country Club tho, they just call it Throgs Neck or Pelham Parway maybe. There has been no infux if hipsters either. But you seem to be acting like our definitions are different so expound on what means hipster to you.
No link huh? I wonder why? :jbhmm:

Is that guy still going on in this thread?

I swear he gotta talk about AOC online more than her own boyfriend does. :dead:

It's a thread about AoC tf? I can't help it she's trending daily. It's some of the more debates because people are debating on pure emotions and ignoring her poor politics and understanding of economies .for someone who put me on ignore my name is still in your mouth

Every head line discussed her win and how gentrification played a huge roll. But im obviously in err, since you've conducted your one independent eye survey and know the gentrification stats to a tee.

Not gonna play gotcha but if you can't quote me saying "throgs necks" as being gentrified then you should really stop saying that .

All polls show dems and Republicans don't want to abolish ICE ....youre wrong, her constituents don't care about this and it's her own minority view and vendetta. I already gave you an example trump ran on a wall, he won in Ohio and Pennsylvania ... You think either state cares whether a wall gets built??

Did the headlines mention hipsters to? :mjlol:
And all the Bronx neighboroods you did mention were not the same ones mentioned as gentrified.

Data Suggest That Gentrifying Neighborhoods Powered Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Victory

"Whether the volunteer had been in Astoria, Sunnyside, or Woodside, all gentrifying neighborhoods in Queens that the campaign targeted heavily, they shared the same story: Turnout seemed higher than usual, and the people turning out were young, they were diverse, and they were pumped for Ocasio-Cortez."

Nice try tho. :francis:

Bro are you gonna continue being dishonest?

Quote me where u said the neighborhoods I mentioned were gentrified . You said Bronx was poor and I posted the neighborhoods in her district in the Bronx that were middle class to upper middle class. I never stated any Bronx neighborhood specifically were gentrified. You keep being dishonest breh.

I keep asking you to quote me on a these assertions and you fail to do so cuz you know you're lying

In addition, the link you just posted proves my initial arguments again. The only thing you have left is me calling them hipsters, so I guess you'll double down on that

Her constituents are NY's 14th and the activists who helped to get her elected. I tried to illustrate the difference between representing one's own constituents and the entire Democratic base via Joe Manchin aka the sole Democrat to vote for Brett Kavanaugh in spite of the fact that all polls showed Dems wanted no parts of the man in the SCOTUS. I do have to admit though..I'd love for our legislators to just base votes on what the majority of Democrats poll as interested in because that'd mean.

The Democratic Party would absolutely be pushing AOC's 70% marginal tax plan, Dems wants that.

Most Americans Support Ocasio-Cortez’s Plan to Raise Top Marginal Tax – Rolling Stone

EVERYONE would be behind Medicare-For-All flat out...

Seventy percent of Americans support 'Medicare for all' in new poll

Also Tuition Free College would be a mainstream item for the Dems

Medicare for All and Free College Tuition Are Wildly Popular Policies

So if you're saying the Dems should do what is polling strongest amongst the Democratic voters...Universal access to medicare and college along with an increased marginal tax rate for top earners would have zero controversy about them...

And just for good measure, pretending that the Progressive side of the aisle didn't have any reason to push Abolish ICE seems shaky when the progressive caucus got dinged for backing off the issue within one week of getting elected.

Again all that is well, I'm simply stating her constituents do not care about ICE , abolish has not polled well amongst Democrats and the article you posted doesn't ding anyone, it's a reporter reporting that leaders have backed off of the battle cry, which they should because the majority of the base doesn't care , what they do care about is trump's inhumane treatment

You're wrong but I wouldn't hate that approach because if we hold legislators to what all democratic voters are polling strongly on as opposed to what their own actual voters want then the progressive agenda will do VERY well.

Her constituents, the Brooklyn high class hipsters, probably give two craps about Ice.
She reps the Bronx and Queens actually.
My mistake

Regardless the high class hipsters that have been gentrifying those areas give two craps
The areas AOC represents have been gentrified to an extent that is on reason why she won, they event said that she best Crowley in Queens specifically in gentrified neighborhoods while Crowley did better in the Bronx (vs queens)

just double checked her neighborhoods and you're totally off base

her neighborhoods aren't hunts point, they are city island and country club!

in queens its elmhurts and astoria

Lol, you're being really dishonest, I'm surprised @storyteller is falling forward your lack of integrity.

Still haven't quoted me in "thron neck" , because I never said it.

Me mentioning the neighborhoods was a response to you calling the Bronx area poor, I mentioned those neighborhoods which aren't poor as a rebuttal to you lying .no where did I said those specific neighborhoods were gentrified

I clearly stated prior that her district was gentrified to an extent ...perhaps basic English escapes you. You even linked an article that supported this!!

So what you've done is cut and pasted various quotes out of context to try to make its seem like I said her entire district was gentrified, which I never said and actually ststed the opposite . But then you fail to address why you called her district poor and argued for two pages about it and clearly she's in a middle to upper middle class district . Not huntes point as you try to allude and which I accurately pointed out.

The problem is you know what you did and are trying to weasel your way out of it like a slimey news editor

@jayshiggs Lie #1 - the gentrification argument

If that were the case Joe Crowley would have won re-election. ..... it hasn't been gentrified just yet.

The areas AOC represents have been gentrified to an extent that is on reason why she won, they event said that she best Crowley in Queens specifically in gentrified neighborhoods while Crowley did better in the Bronx (vs queens)

from the article you linked, proving that gentrification helped push AOC
In fact, Crowley — Irish-American and from Queens — was presumed to do better there than Ocasio-Cortez — Puerto Rican and from the Bronx — who was expected to carry her home borough. But Romalewski mapped out the votes across the district, and what he found was the exact opposite of the pundits’ conclusion: Crowley, known until last week as the “king of Queens,” was crushed almost everywhere, but he did better in the Bronx.

“You can also see that most of her votes, the strongest vote support, came from areas like Astoria in Queens and Sunnyside in Queens and parts of Jackson Heights that, number one, were not predominantly Hispanic, so they’re a more mixed population, and are areas where — this is kind of a term of art — are in the process of being gentrified, where newer people are moving in,” said Romalewski

The volunteers had fanned out across the district, focusing particularly on areas in Queens and the Bronx where an influx of young people was changing the character, complexion, and politics of the neighborhoods. Whether the volunteer had been in Astoria, Sunnyside, or Woodside, all gentrifying neighborhoods in Queens that the campaign targeted heavily, they shared the same story:

@jayshiggs Lie #2 - alluding to AOC representing the poor BRONX areas
The BX is one of the poorest parts of NY state .

me catching you in a lie as you tried to manipulate us into thinking AOC's district included the poor Bronx areas.

just double checked her neighborhoods and you're totally off base

her neighborhoods aren't hunts point, they are city island and country club!

in queens its elmhurts and astoria

:stopitslime: cmon breh

@jayshiggs Lie #3 - completely lying about me saying anything about "Throgs Neck" and after being corrected continuing to perpetuate the lie.

Here's you bringing up "Throgs Neck" first and then lying about it and saying I said it, over and over again, when I never ever mentioned "Throgs Neck"

There are barely to no hipsters on fukkin' City Island, Country Club, Throgs Neck, etc.! :mjlol: A lot of white people maybe, unless you think guidos are hip. :russ:

So you think people out in those areas in the Bronx are living the hipster life?! :mjlol: Based on what?!
Where are you getting these net worth stats from? Please link me.
I said Astoria is gentrified, but that's about all you got right. I said the Bronx is one of the poorest places in the state and part of her constituency the end. You then tried to get all specific and tried to call Throgs Neck where no one goes unless you live there a hipster area. lol

now you're making up shyt. NEver said any of those things.

B,b,but let me explain! :mjlol:
It's right there in black and white you said her district was gentrified to an extent and then mention 4 areas, 3 of which are not gentrified and not mentioned as such in the article I posted. That's the truth so who is being dishonest really? :francis:
I said she reps the Bronx one of the poorest areas in the state. You tried to play "gotcha" and get all grandular about details and then got those details about the areas of the Bronx wrong. :mjlol:
I already cleared up why I keep saying Throgs Neck because no one calls the Country Club section of the Bronx fukkin' Country Club. lol I was trying to help you not sound stupid. My bad. :manny:
