Classic song on a forgettable jada album. Story of his life.

Imagine this beat on stillmatic or blueprint.
Would've def enhanced both BP or Stillmatic, but Jada & Styles were perfect for this.

I image Hov using it for some kinda U Don't Know braggadocios, which might've meant it was one or the other on BP (unpopular opinion maybe, but I like the U Don't Know beat better than WGMI)

Nas could've went in hella directions on WGMI beat...It fits better on Stillmatic than anywhere else tbh, but it sounds like it would've went on 41st Side anyway.

No it wasn't, either the label or alch should take blame for thay
Alc is probably to blame, but I can't fault him for knowing how lava the beat was, and then seeing the label not doing shyt for mad long, so he was like fukk it.

:russ: nas trying to give it to nashawn and alc was like :comeon: just give it back

So what's the real story. Always thought that Ras got done dirty by Alc. What really happened?

All I know is he sold the beat twice. Foul as shyt by Alc.
From all I heard on the situation Ras' team basically paid a retainer fee for the beat. Then Ras says his team/record label fukked up and never paid the full amount for the beat. It was on Alc's beat tapes and so he had Jada wanting to buy it so Alc said fukk it and went ahead and sold it. Ras thought it was still his beat and had already recorded and mastered it so was shocked to hear Jada come out with it. He offered Ras a few other beats for free after the misunderstanding but Ras said fukk him.

Yeah that's the story I knew as well.

All Alc had to do is tell Ras that the label didn't pay in full and that he'd shop the beat if they didn't give him the rest of the bread after a certain amount of time or date.

We would have got Oochie Wally part 2 or Braveheart Party if Nas got it. And it would have been just another track to Jay.

It would automatically be better than Braveheart Party. The reason that song is that awful is because the beat is awful lol. We Gon Make It beat is great. Maybe more Oochie Wally 2, although I think it has the type of bounce that Nas could get in pocket for flow wise. Same with Jay. But it ended up in the right place regardless... although I also fukk with the Ras Kass version.

In hindsight it was a terrible business decision. Imagine if he still had a tight relationship with Al.

I don't believe anything Alchemist says about this beat at this point.

Ras Kass has explained ad nauseum how the exchange went regarding the track and his story has never changed in 25 years.

I firmly believe the whole "Jay and Nas" being shopped the beat or wanting it is 100% Alchemist rewriting history.

And I'm a HUGE fan of Alchemist. Well, at least his work from '99' through like 2009ish.

He can keep the drumless soul loop sh*t though.
