It hits harder when a nikka delayed the release of ur album to the point u have to redo it and release what u wanted to be ur album as a mixtape instead. Jay's input made Cole have the worst debut album out of "the big 3". Cole literally said he was depressed af during that era.
Yea imagine if he had release it with “who dat” lol. He wouldn’t even be heard of in no big 3

He could've released FNL and been good.
Yea a good artist. I was a stan then. But if he ain’t sell. nikka was gonna be a little more popular big krit.

Label never would let him release 2014 fhd the way he did. Really without a single ect. Can’t discount what he needed at the time. He wasn’t this star rapper yet. He was a artist with a lot of potential and coulda easy been wale

He still sold 220 or so first week and "Work Out" at that point wasn't doing anything.

Cole was one the first artists to break that archetype of needing a big first single to sell.

And lead singles mattered back then.

FNL did not have hits on it

What’s good bro

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t FHD one of the first big surprise drop rap albums in the 2010s?
