Yea one lost with good players in his 30's and the other one lost with good players in their prime. A poster brought up how AI never had anyone to which you brought up the Denver team. So I brought up the time Kobe had lost with good players then you brought up how Kobe's team went to the finals as if that was fair since he was in his prime while AI was over the hill. I was merely comparing another great player losing with good players which you counterpointed Kobe was more successful and then I counterpointed how Kobe was in his prime while AI was in his 30's
:what:

Are you retarded? Serious question. :what:

AI was ok.
Watching those early sixer teams...it was clear he was a scorer and not much else
d was ehhh...way better at "playing the lanes" rather than "D'ing up"...but he was undersized.
I always thought he would have been way better if he worked on becoming a scoring point rather than an undersized 2
Gets a lot of credit for the finals run....that team would have barely made the playoffs if it wasnt for dikembe....
might be the most inefficient scorer i have ever seen...avg night would be 9-25 8-14ft
jumper nothing to write home about
if the refs were not on his side...it was an ugly game
finished no lower than second in field goal attempts from 98-05
Fell off around 03

That said....hes way better than Vince ever was
might have been better than Ray 1on1, but if im pickin teams im takin ray everytime
Was at no point ever better than Kobe
Putting him on Tmacs level seems about right because round 00/01/02 they, along with Kobe, were getting that best scorer of they league buzz
Kobe just won

Like I said....AI was ok:manny:

Really?

We are going to pretend that he didn't have the COY, DPOY and the 6th man of the year?

Mutombo was just a great help defender and couldn't defend as well in man to man plus he was a liability in the pick and roll. Brown won COY because Iverson was winning him games with scrub team. The 6th man was con because he was the 2nd scoring option who didnt start but played starter minutes

AI won the MVP because of his team's record. Their defense won them games. Not because AI was shooting 9 of 31.

If AI was so great why was that the only year the Sixers had any type of success? He stopped caring?

So success is only getting to the finals now? The sixers made the playoffs like 5 or 6 years straight

AI was fun to watch no doubt. But his style of play was never going to lead you to a lot of wins.

Ok but the thread says Allen was an overrated scorer. This is what I'm addressing and not sure how he is an overrated scorer for what he was able to do as a 6 foot shooting guard.

it's not fukking rocket science. he was overrated as a scorer because he had to shoot the ball like 28 times to get 30 points.

anyone else would get ROASTED for shooting 40%, especially in the playoffs like ai did. but not here...iverson gets held up as some kind of hero while doing the same thing.

and please don't start with the "b-b-but he was so short!" "b-b-but his style was influential! b-b-but his crossover was so ill!" cuz none of that shyt is an argument against the fact he was an inefficient gunner.

T-Mac may have been better than AI in 2003 but that's about it. Sure he and Vince shot a higher percentage but they also have 6-7 inches on AI too. I mean if AI is overrated then so is Russell Westbrook. AI shot 42.5 percent for his career, Russy is shooting 43 with a 7 foot freak of nature to take the pressure of him. But Russy gets praised as one of the best point guards in the league. Chuck may have had trouble co-existing with other scorers but the only time he had a guy who was somewhat a fit was with C-Webb. And Webber was not the same player anymore by time he got to Philly. If you put AI with a prime Shaq i think they win just as many rings as him and Kobe.

Lots of Misinformed drivel being thrown around here. If you nikkas dont know then dont speak on it. And if you wanna speak on it take time to get your facts together:mindblown:

AI fell around 03?
Vince and Ray Allen above AI??
AI was just an inefficient chucker?

AI was the only player in the league to be top 10 in scoring, assists and steals for many years. He impacted the game in alot of other ways besides scoring. Those Philly teams used to terrorize the passing lanes and disrupt the shyt out of teams with AI being the catalyst. Dont get me wrong he gambled too much and it started looking pretty bad as he lost his quickness but from 99-05 he impacted the defensive side of the ball. Vince and Ray Allen did NOT and COULD not impact a game like AI did. Vince is probably the greatest wing talent in the history along with his cousin but he never realized it. And Ray was never at that superstar level. Neither players overall game measured up to prime AI's. Look at these numbers.

05 - 30.7ppg, 7.9apg, 2.4stl
06- 33ppg, 7.5apg, 2.0stls

How many of these "top 5 shooting guards" posted overall statlines like that. You can harp on his his shooting percentages but his numbers say he impacted the game in a much larger scope than just "scoring"

People here are saying that the other elite shooting guards have posted much better numbers when put in the same situation. But i dont see it. The only guards with an argument are kobe in 03 (30ppg, 6rpg, 5apg) and Wade in 09 (30ppg, 7.5apg, 5rpg) and Kobe was shooting at a 45% clip.....with Shaq on his team....meaning his 03 season should be disqualified from the equation anyway.

And if you want to keep it funky then AI actually had better overall numbers than Kobe did in his legendary 06 year too

33, 7.5, 2.0 > 35, 4.5, 5:jawalrus:
