shyt was hard to tell him I want to join the air force at my age.

You willl deal with the younger enlisted calling you "old" and all that BS. With the life experience you have coming in, it is a huge advantage. Some of the younger ones will probably look to you for advice, mentor, etc.

Anyone recently enlist within the last 10 years? Do they just give a piss test or take a hair sample? I went online and people who are in the military said they don't take a hair sample because its too expensive.

If this is something you're really worried about, I wouldn't join.
I don't remember then taking a hair sample but why should that matter?
All the fiends end up getting caught on possession, random UA, DUI, something.


One dude got the DH for smokin spice, lying when he swore in, then fessing up during his clearance interview.

You will get paid, if you make it through the pipeline, but if you don't (washout rates go for something like 70% or more) you will either get separate or placed in any job the AF says you can get, and you may not really be able to get.

There are 4 options- Pararescue, Combat Control, TACP, and Special Reconnaissance, and you kinda need to specify which AFSC you'd be looking at. All of them would pay: special duty pay, jump/dive pay, TDY money, deployment money, big SRBs, etc.

Yeah, they were saying never admit shyt period! Unless you have a record for drug abuse than you should be fine. But damn a hair sample goes back 1 year.
