Honestly, you're fine in my book. I don't have anything against Latinos and I don't want to let prejudice blind me.

But, you really shouldn't take up the shield for a bunch of people who didn't grow up like you did. I don't align myself with black people who terrorize their communities or practice colorism, so I wouldn't ask you to align yourself with Dominicans that are racist when you know you aren't a racist. Those are not your people breh. They may share a language with you, a culture with you, an ethnicity with you, but that doesn't make them your family.

Black folks always say, "all skinfolk ain't kinfolk" and I think that applies to other groups of people too.

People will blame Haitians in the DR for this but, in all honesty, I've seen many Dominicans, Colombians, Ecuadorians, and Mexicans here in Queens complain about Venezuelans more than anyone else and I wouldn't be shocked if the rise of Venezuelan migrants helped sparked the Right Wing shift among Hispanics here in NYC.

The idea of "Latinos Unidos" is definitely exaggerated af and people ignore how many Hispanics are against other Hispanics mass immigrating to the U.S., especially illegally. The "F*ck you, I got mine" mentality is particularly strong with many of them.

Just ask any random Hispanic New Yorker what they think about the migrant crisis or Roosevelt Avenue and you're practically listening to a tanned Archie Bunker half the time.

One of the biggest pieces of propaganda that got Dominicans especially into the MAGA shyt is the fake news that illegal migrants were getting put up in nice hotels and being given free stuff and $5,000 gift cards every month. It's absolute bullshyt but a lot of them were saying shyt like "nobody gave us so much when WE came here we had to work hard for every dollar". The same attitude as boomers who don't want people to get student loans forgiven because they paid their way through college when it was 5k a semester.

This selfishness is easy to manipulate for political gain and every group has selfish ass people. Those types of immigrants absolutely hate Venezuelans because they swear Democrats are taking care of them because they want the country to become communist like Venezuela. I had one person tell me they are building a communist army to take over America with the help of Bernie and AOC lol. We are living insane times.
