After rewatching The Wire, I think it's safe to say Stringer>Avon.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
he didnt lie, he never said he shot her, but he helped killed her (indirectly set her up) same with weebay. Both of them did. He was there when she was murdered..
he did say he shot her

some of y'all need to do a rewatch... he didn't even mention nobody else... told them how he crept up in the bushes and was the one doing the tapping and did the shooting

and he did all this cause bodie pressed him and he said he just did a murder... bodie was like yea we heard about that shyt in the lobby... and he was like naaaaaaah this is another murder i did that i didn't tell y'all about

dude was a clown the entire time and is the #1 reason they got caught up on so many levels

Avon loved the street sh*t a little too much. Remember when he got shot at.. that sh*t made his day:ooh:

Wasn't mad at Stringer tryin' to get the real estate poppin'. He got played to a degree by Clay Davis. Paying off certain political heads, unions, construction companies, etc. is damn near part of the game in big real estate projects in major cities. Stringer didn't really know that.

-they were both good characters that offset each other. If it was two dudes who loved street shyt or two dudes desperately wanting out the game then the shows dynamic would've been different.

yep stringer gave up to quick....theres a million crooked politicians that will take ur money do ur biddin.

Just wanna point out how amazing the character dynamics of this show is....how layered they are...how DEEP they go.

The Bodie/D'Angello relationship dynamic is one of the more underrated on the show. D caught in the middle, neither OG or young buck, but still expected to command respect from someone that see's right through him. Their character growth, when contrasted together, was so great to watch. From Bodie being unimpressed with D, to D lying to try and convince Bodie of his gangsta....and even their small but competitive interactions

D: You want something from carry out?:ehh:

Bodie: Yeah, Lake Trout sub:feedme:

D: Pay up:mjpls:

Bodie: :childplease:Damn you asked I thought you was treating:rudy:

D: Well you thought wrong, I ain't no bank:camby:

Bodie: Yeah, you stingy like one:umad:

D: Just make sure you give me enough:birdman:

Bodie: No mayo, hot, and something to drank:ufdup:

It's little small interactions like that which makes it even more emotionally complicated when Bodie is tasked with getting flowers for the funeral.

He thought D was a weak ass nikka, and the scenes of him punking D illustrate that, but we needed scenes like the one above to make lines like "We wasn't all that tight but he was still my nikka" stick.

The 36 Chambers
Stringer was smart but not street smart.

Avon knew not to change or go against the rules of the game, Stringer did....it got him got at the end of the day.

Playing both side of the fences can only take you so far in the streets.

Breh when Rawls was berating Mcnulty at the end of episode one, what exactly was he mad about? The fact that " some project ****** beat his unit out of ten murders".

The judge was overseeing a murder case. That's the reason he brought Mcnulty in.
Rawls was not mad about getting beat for some murders. He was mad because Mcnulty went running his mouth to a judge about the violent Barksdale crew and the judge then got in the deputy commissioners ass and the shyt rolled down hill. The dept wasn't prepared to answer any Avon questions and they looked bad. Nobody gave a shyt about Avon and them until the judge made noise. Project murders were business as usual for homicide before that.

he did end up killing Bodie though

he also made Bodie look like a bytch the first time they met

That's because Bodie was just a corner chief and Marlo was a boss. Power differential. Marlo talked to Fruit in the same way and at that stage Bodie's position in the Barksdale organisation was the same as Fruit's in the Stanfields
