After rewatching The Wire, I think it's safe to say Stringer>Avon.

Sorry breh,

Avon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stringer Bell.

Avon knew what he was. He was a drug dealer. He never tried to be something that he was not. He never confused what he was doing with anything but being a drug dealer. If he had to kill somebody to make other people leave him alone then he did it.

Avon was even smart enough to know that D'Angelo wanted out of the game. He was going to let him leave, because he knew that blood was more important to him than business. There was not a need to kill his own nephew in his mind, because he knew that his nephew was not going to hurt his business.

He even advised his nephew in prison not to use drug on the night that the were spiked.

Avon loved his nephew. He was not going to hurt him and D'Angelo knew that, but D just wanted his space from Avon. Wey Bey and Avon even have a heart to heart talk about D after D was murdered in prison; at that time Avon thought that D had committed suicide and D had only did that to make Avon hurt. Right during that scene you could tell that Avon was hurting for his nephew.

Oddly enough Avon was a better business man than Stringer Bell, because Avon could see a bullshytter like Senator Clay Davis early on in the hustle. And Avon would not let Stringer have Slim Charles kill Clay Davis, because it would have been bad for business.

Now if you want to talk about cold. Avon was much colder and business oriented than Stringer Bell. Here is a scene where the two are reminiscing on the balcony in one scene, but then we learn that Avon set up the hit on Stringer; because he knew that Stringer had to go. Look at fukking surprised that Stringer is when he learns that Avon gave him up. Stringer had no words.

Finally, Avon wanted to smoke Marlo early on, because Marlo was bad for business, but Stringer fukked that up. Oddly enough Avon admired Marlo's business skills, but Marlo couldn't do shyt without Avon. Avon didn't even give a fukk about the Co-Op just like Marlo didn't.

Avon would have still been dealing drugs with the Co-Op breh. I'm talking about being smarter, making more money and not bringing much attention to yourself. Slim Charles and rest of the O.G.s could see the benefit, so why not Avon?

I think you need watch the show breh. D'Angelo would have most likely snitched on Avon. He had no qualms with flipping on his uncle when the pressure got tough. If it weren't for his mother's pleading with him. Avon would have been finished.

Avon did what he had to do to preserve his business when he snitched on Stringer yet Stringer doing the same thing it's something to be frown upon? What Stringer did to D'Angelo was a necessary evil and even Avon realized that.

I agree with Stringer underestimating Marlo though but with Barksdale taking such a huge hit and losing valuable muscle he couldn't afford to get into a war. Also he didn't have the connections and influence Avon had to bring personnel in so I feel his hands were tied.

Well...to go far...to WIN in the drug game even, you do the old "LIVE BY THE SWORD DIE BY THE SWORD" shyt. You keep killing all that gets you nervous because that's the only way to really be safe once you go 100% gangsta. That's how one legendary Colombian Drug Overlord won for a long time. Organizing it like a business works if you have the people behind you to enforce it...simple. If you can't do a take over or afford a war, stay in your lane.
Exactly. How are you going to enforce contracts and obligations in an illegal business? You can't take a muthaphucka to court or sue so you have to take it to the streets. The co-op was destined to fail. It's the same reason why the drug game is so violent at every level.

That was still stringers fault

Stringer kept trying to talk to Marlo. Sent bodie to try and find him. Got them shot at and fukked up. Then went to do it himself. Got denied and told no.

By the time Avon got home, he immediately knew what was going on. Young boy was going to take it all. And he was doing it. Stringer had nowhere to sell. And Marlo was dropping all his people.

Avon was on some, nah we can't let this happen, we gotta kill him. And was 10 minutes from pulling it off when strings snitching got him hemmed up.

On the other hand. Next season the co op was STILL fukked up over Marlo. The entire co op was at the table crying about Marlo taking all the real estate. Complaining how he was dropping nikkas and they had nowhere to sell.

Joe went to talk to him. Got denied. Wasn't until he found the court papers on him that Marlo agreed to join. And that was just to take it over

That shyt ain't gonna work. The only reason it worked was because Marlo allowed it to work. He could have easily just kept doing him and took all of bmore over.

Avon knew that was coming. Avon told stringer. Then Avon told Marlo straight up he knew the plan. Marlo was nothing more than a young Avon

I agree not getting rid of Marlo was a blunder. I think overall Stringer did well and the Co- Op was a good idea.

Once Marlo started dropping bodies and bringing attention to himself we all saw what happened.

The Co- Op didn't fail though.

The shyt was really trying to see the forest through the trees. Stringer wanted to quell all the heat from bodies on the street COMPLETELY neglecting the fact that the game is the game. Omars are out there, formed by the drug trade you're trying to organize. You're right, you can't sue Omar when, not if, he strikes. :dahell: Stringer kept trying to make people turn the other cheek on that type of shyt :mjlol:

The co-op would have been continously terrorized by stick-up men like Omar. I guess that's part of it but it can't go beyond that point, Avon was needed to handle the Omars.

The co-op is this honor amongst thieves bullshyt that was really destined to fail. We can't really speculate past season five but with another Omar about to rob them blind, the only ones who benefit from all of that was the Greek.

I think that you need to rewatch the show once again. D just wanted out of the game. D would have never said anything to the Cops about Avon or the family; he came close, but he didn't. Think about it Avon could have had D killed in prison if he really wanted his nephew dead, but Avon didn't have D killed; in fact Avon continued to try to iron out their relationship behind bars, because Avon knew that D was hurting. Avon even let D know that the drugs being smuggled into the prison were going to be spiked. He didn't have to say anything to D if he wanted D dead; because D would have overdosed with the other prisoners. So clearly Avon loved his nephew and Avon knew that D would never say anything and Brianna knew it too, which is what she explains to Avon in this clip which is what Avon already knew.

In fact Avon was devastated when Stringer Bell confessed to Avon that he (Stringer) had D'Angelo killed. Avon did not want D to be killed. And if you think about it that was the break in the relationship between Avon and Stringer.

When you go back and watch that show it is going to come apparent to your real fast that Stringer Bell was the worse business person in the whole show. The only person dumber than him was Cheese.

Well obviously, the story was written to have Avon get fukked on both sides, police and stick-up men. But the co-op itself had no plan to deal with the Omars of the world is what I'm saying. Stringer wanted to just have his soldiers shrug off any violence so I ask you, how could the Co-Op survive Stringer's plan of leave all that gangster shyt alone?

Yup. Breanna told Namond and Delonda that the money had dried up. And this was the baby mama and eldest son of Avons right hand man. Avon didn't have enough bread to take care of dudes family. The man that refused to snitch and ttook all of those murders for him. This might be why Wee Bay linked up with Chris while in prison...no evidence for that but I could speculate that it was to make money.

Avon might have put his best foot forward while he met with Marlo to appear like he was living the life, but he and Breanna needed that money they got from Marlo.

And I get the point being made about Avon living better than the average prisoner but calling it a vacation home is a little much. Eating stale ass Popeyes and watching dusty flicks on DVD cuz you're surrounded by nikkas isn't exactly a good time.
:kattwtf:

In prison, yes the fukk it is.

What reality are yall living in? Do you know it's nikkas locked up right now that will stab a nikka for a 2 piece and a biscuit? :mindblown:

Wait so you're telling me a dude who started crying and snitching just because he felt sorry some kids, a man who was seconds away from bringing down his uncle entire operation because he wasn't willing to spend time in prison, would all of a sudden turn into Wee-Bey?

He refused Levy's legal council because Wallace was killed.
:pachaha:

Every single time the pressure was put on D'Angelo he folded. He wasn't built for the game and would have eventually flipped. Avon's love for his Nephew blinded him from the truth.

That is why you need to rewatch the show. You missed a lot.

Did D'Angelo ever snitch? No he didn't. If he didn't snitch then he didn't fold.

IMO this is one of the best scenes in the whole series. Avon explains everything to D'Angelo in this one scene on a visit to the hospital to see Avon's dad (D'Angelo's granddad). You can see what family means to Avon in just this one scene.

Stop it with the bold breh. Avon struggled to deal with one stick up man. In fact it wouldn't have gotten as far as it did if Avon hadn't taken it so personal.

Slim Charles and the rest of the OGs sends someone to take a hit out on Omar. Couldn't have done any worse than Avon did.

Bunk and Mcnulty had D'Angelo writing letters implicating himself after telling him the guy Avon killed had kids.

Once he found out Wallace was killed how did he react?

D was not built for the game and that's why he would have flipped.

When you see guys like Wee-Bey and Chris eating charges like it's nothing it's because they have been resigned to their fate for years. Most hardened criminals wouldn't be willing to do what they did much less a guy like D.
