After rewatching The Wire, I think it's safe to say Stringer>Avon.

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
Slim Charles had the throne when it ended with a nut job Valcheck as the Comissioner with BPD's two best detectives gone (McNulty and Lester).

Charles is actually a little bit of Stringer, Joe, and Avon all in one. Smart, savage when he needs to be, and low profile.

He had no remaining enemies left that had power except Marlo who would have to start from scratch and had the law on his back heavy. They were planning on bringing in the Spanish cats if there would've been a season 6. :francis:

I wish Netflix would buy the rights to just do a street and law enforncment spin off.

Marlo wouldnt come at Slim Charles like he did the rest neither, he knew it was Slim Charles dropping his men like flies and tried to recruit him over and over the last season; Marlo respected Slim like none other, he even allowed Slim to address him as youngin, which can be perceived as a slight

As far as Marlo starting over Marlo knew when to bend unlike Avon; his bodies were all business, no innocents or civilians got killed on his order or none of that, although ruthless he understood the cards he held in his hand and every option he could play. He was groomed in the ilk of Prop Joe he would have been back in the midst of the heavy street shyt in no time manipulating others, and taking over corners like he showed in the last scene....You think the streets wouldn't let it be known that Marlo was back in the game; not to mention Avon was coming home soon, with them burying the hatchet and realizing they are one in the same; him and Avon still had a line on that connect...Dont think it would be no starting from scratch with Marlo

Marlo could come up again. He did it with no money before. He got $10 million from selling the connect IIRC so he'd be working with much more than before. The only problem he would have is getting a team together that was loyal to him like before. Chris and Snoop grew up with him. Snoop dead. Chris in jail. Monk somewhere doing whatever. Not sure if the young boys around Baltimore would be as loyal and as down to ride for him like his childhood friends were.

I always wanted to see the other kids grow up. Michael would've been the new Omar, robbing and jacking. Namond the next Clay Davis. Dukie the next Bubbles. Doughnut would have his chop shop like Vinson stealing cars and shyt. I could see Randy become a better version of Stringer (more aggressive but, still smart) or a better version of Prop Joe (more aggressive). But he could've easily ended up a nobody like Bodie :manny: i wanted to see Kenard come came of age too, he could've went either way. If he was dumb he would just be another corner boy going nowhere. But if he had a head on him, he would've became the next Marlo. Boy was sadistic

Avon was never going to stop being a gangsta, even called Stringer out for never killing someone. That's why Stringer confessed to having D'Angelo killed.

People make Marlo out to be a sociopath and Avon to be a saint, but look at all the killings Avon okay'd especially Wallace and Omar's boy Brandon.

You see how Avon talked to known killers like Slim and Cutty when they messed up, Avon ran his crew to be ruthless and those hitters only followed his lead.

Marlo would have been dead that night. Leaving Stinger in charge was what led to the downfall of the Barksdale crew, when Avon came home and saw Marlo had all the prime real estate Avon lost his mind.

Can't give Stringer any props, dude even got killed cause he had no gun.

I wasn't defending String. I used to before because I thought he had good intentions wanting to make the crew legit and stop the murders but, my opinions changed. He was moving sloppy. If he was never making moves behind Avon's back with Prop Joe, he would have never gotten mixed up with Mouzone and Cheese's beef, or had to set up Mouzone's death to keep Prop Joe happy, which led to String getting murked eventually. Sloppy. If he was smart String would've had Mouzone take out Omar in the first place. The directors laid it out in the open with his character. He wasn't hard enough for the streets and wasn't smart enough for the life he wanted either. He had good ideas though.

If Avon had let Omar breath for a while like Stringer suggested he would have been saved a lot of trouble down the road. Avon's idea of torturing Brandon and "Putting him on display" was stupid in hindsight and incurred the wrath of Omar. No need for all that extra nonsense just kill him and chalk it up to the game.

Was killing D'Angelo heartless? Yes, but it had to be done. We saw how easily D folded when the pressure got to him. He clearly wasn't cut out for the gangster life style and once he started to feel them years he would have flipped. Even Avon realized it had to be done.

The Co-Op was a great idea that brought in more money and less attention from the cops. Instead of beefing over corners and killing each other over grievances, the king-pins sat together and aired out concerns. Everything was all good until Avon started beefing with some snot nose kid over territory that they didn't even need. Look, I like Avon but he just couldn't see the big picture. Like Stringer said "They don't want to see you get organized".

Sorry breh,

Avon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stringer Bell.

Avon knew what he was. He was a drug dealer. He never tried to be something that he was not. He never confused what he was doing with anything but being a drug dealer. If he had to kill somebody to make other people leave him alone then he did it.

Avon was even smart enough to know that D'Angelo wanted out of the game. He was going to let him leave, because he knew that blood was more important to him than business. There was not a need to kill his own nephew in his mind, because he knew that his nephew was not going to hurt his business.

He even advised his nephew in prison not to use drug on the night that the were spiked.

Avon loved his nephew. He was not going to hurt him and D'Angelo knew that, but D just wanted his space from Avon. Wey Bey and Avon even have a heart to heart talk about D after D was murdered in prison; at that time Avon thought that D had committed suicide and D had only did that to make Avon hurt. Right during that scene you could tell that Avon was hurting for his nephew.

Oddly enough Avon was a better business man than Stringer Bell, because Avon could see a bullshytter like Senator Clay Davis early on in the hustle. And Avon would not let Stringer have Slim Charles kill Clay Davis, because it would have been bad for business.

Now if you want to talk about cold. Avon was much colder and business oriented than Stringer Bell. Here is a scene where the two are reminiscing on the balcony in one scene, but then we learn that Avon set up the hit on Stringer; because he knew that Stringer had to go. Look at how fukking surprised that Stringer is when he learns that Avon gave him up. Stringer had no words.

Finally, Avon wanted to smoke Marlo early on, because Marlo was bad for business, but Stringer fukked that up. Oddly enough Avon admired Marlo's business skills, but Marlo couldn't do shyt without Avon. Avon didn't even give a fukk about the Co-Op just like Marlo didn't.

Monk is doing at least 20; but with 10 million to buy soldiers and hand out dollars to them young corner boys; he'd be heavy in no time.....Marlo option was to build up his team until Avon got out and Avon's remaining soldiers would of gravitated toward the union; then they would go after the crown as both that what was Avon and Marlo infatuated with; The wire definitely needed one more season though

That's not loyalty though. Chris and Wee-Bey was willing to do 50, 60 years for Marlo and Avon because they were family. Came up together and all that. Best friends. Marlo would be the old head trying to recruit kids that's 18, 19 who don't give a fukk about dude. That's what the Corner scene was about when he got in a fight. Those kids don't know him. Who would he have in his corner that's really family now with Chris, Snoop and Monk gone? He could build a team no problem but, when the heat came down, I could see them all selling Marlo out because there's no loyalty there. Maybe O-Dogg if he's still alive. I can't remember if he died or not. He'd be the only one still around Marlo could maybe trust.

Avon knew what Marlo was from day one, even though marlo/chris got a shot avon, Avon had the whole east side tooling up on Marlo while he was looking for council at the rim shop with them older cats, Marlo was in over his head and he ain't know it... the jail scene was about Marlo being humbled to the power Avon had, not only did he have the whole prison on lock and could have got him touched then and there, Avon still had the connect as well, so therefore the king stayed the king

Yep. But for some reason black folks can't.

Italians didn't do it either. They were still killing each other Chicago, Philly and New York through the 90's, until they were finally sent underground by the US Government.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
What Marlo did was on Prop Joe not Stringer. I'm not saying Stringer didn't have his faults but overall he was what the organization needed to take it to new heights.

And the Co-Op was good idea. That's why Slim Charles and the old heads were still using it even after the death of Stringer and Joe. They saw the value.
That was still stringers fault

Stringer kept trying to talk to Marlo. Sent bodie to try and find him. Got them shot at and fukked up. Then went to do it himself. Got denied and told no.

By the time Avon got home, he immediately knew what was going on. Young boy was going to take it all. And he was doing it. Stringer had nowhere to sell. And Marlo was dropping all his people.

Avon was on some, nah we can't let this happen, we gotta kill him. And was 10 minutes from pulling it off when strings snitching got him hemmed up.

On the other hand. Next season the co op was STILL fukked up over Marlo. The entire co op was at the table crying about Marlo taking all the real estate. Complaining how he was dropping nikkas and they had nowhere to sell.

Joe went to talk to him. Got denied. Wasn't until he found the court papers on him that Marlo agreed to join. And that was just to take it over

That shyt ain't gonna work. The only reason it worked was because Marlo allowed it to work. He could have easily just kept doing him and took all of bmore over.

Avon knew that was coming. Avon told stringer. Then Avon told Marlo straight up he knew the plan. Marlo was nothing more than a young Avon
