After reading this NYT article on the Nagasaki bombing, U.S. was truly pathetic

Japan's atrocities do not justify the atrocities done to them, wtf is wrong with y'all :what:

That's exactly how Israel justifies it's barbaric treatment of Palestinians

When's the last time Palestinians raped and murdered damn near half a continent?

Palestine is a victim of imperialism, Japan was a enthusiastic participent.

I don't see how you can hold everyone in entire populations directly responsible for the actions of the State :why: at least several thousands of those killed (murdered) probably disagreed with much of the Japanese governments actions, no?

Yeah probably. And I think it was wrong to drop the bomb. I just don't think Japan has any right to grievence here. If they had had a nuke they damn sure would have dropped it on Pearl Harbour or Nanking or the Philippines.

That blood is just as much on Tojo and the junta's hands as its on Truman's.

The whole point is that being victimized does not make you morally justified to victimize another. The inverse is true; that being a perpetrator of a heinous crime does not make it justified for someone else to commit a heinous crime against you. Japan obviously has a lot of blood on their hands, but that doesn't negate the inherent wrongness of America dropping the Atomic bomb on them.

I agree that dropping the bomb was wrong. Japan doesn't have room to complain as a state though. Individuals from Hiroshima or Nagasaki might.

The human species can be so stupid that 50 million people got slaughtered for nothing in WW2.

I guess it was just some form of population control...idk
Not for nothing. It proved the failure of the nation state, and introduced international coalition building.
Without World War 2, a US/Soviet showdown would have happened, and had the potential to be a whole lot worse than WW2.
No major wars since. If we make it to 2045 without one that'll be a bit of record.
