I use to think it was that complicated like yourself. We eat, we sleep, we sex, we socialize, we build communities, we learn, we entertain. Take away language and its all different gradients of the same thing.
Don't get me wrong, what I appreciate and respect about culture are those fine details. Plus, like you are saying preserving those fine details in the Aa community, I agree.
I don't believe this. We eat different foods. What if the person is Muslim and doesn't eat pork and non Halal meat? We sex but some people only sex within marriage. Some are against homosexuality. We socialise. Yes we do but the world over socialises different. My friend from Shinghai is having a real rude awakening with her English boyfriend about money and expectation. Given divorce is often tied to finances it isn't a simple thing.
Community building? The attitude of the average man of the Coli... the expectations of building is unlike most men on earth.
Again, and no offense to you but, if you came from a culture that took family life, social life more seriously than you wouldn't be so flippant about the above. It isn't different gradients. There are some extreme differences across the world with regard to everything you mentioned. To suggest otherwise makes me think that you don't hold very strong, consistent, values.
