I'm trying to explain this breh yet I'm being called names and dismissed when I have DIRECT ties to the damn place. For goodness sake you have people threatening to burn down hospitals (which are ill equipped as is with BLACK staff). Who is going to think to self-quarantine when a good portion of the people think Ebola is some "witch" that is getting people sick? It isn't just white doctors. Our leading BLACK specialist in hemorrhagic viruses just died this week of Ebola. They brushed his ass off too until he paid with his life to help others.

This is largely a failure on the account of the government to put a preparation plan in place. The borders should have BEEN closed. When it popped up in the Eastern part of the country the villages should have BEEN no-go zones....but they sat on their ass and did nothing.

As far as this in particular being spread, I cannot confirm, but I don't deny the possibility. We have guys like Al Gore talking about we need to manage Africa's fertility, as well as Bill Gates actively being in India and Africa to help 'control the population'. Of course on the surface they are doing things like putting up abortion clinics and handing out birth control, but I wouldn't put it past them to take other measures covertly. Just look at their intellectual forefather Bertrand Russell and some of the other eugenicists who actively wanted to control the world population, especially the populations of the 'coloreds'. Russell wrote in a book that it would be fantastic if they could have a sort of plague that would occasionally wipe out populations.

The issue of quarantining is true to some extent. Many parts of Africa had local edicts that dealt with ways of isolating those infected with ebola. Those measures meant the disease didn't develop into a pandemic. Unfortunately, Western doctors simply ignored most of the medical reasoning of Africans, dismissing them wholesale. According to the WHO, though, Western medics have revised their initial dismissive mentality. Could that have helped here? I don't know.

In any case, any one that thinks ebola is being used as population control is either an idiot or extremely ignorant. The gains are minimal for a virus that doesn't discriminate and for which no real cure exists. Further, it's so ridiculously inefficient in spreading, that no evil maniac sitting in his ivory tower would consider it a serious option for culling Africans.

Don't be ridiculous. Malaria probably killed more people in July than ebola has done so far this year. It's not that fast, troubling though it may be. You've also got cause and effect in the wrong order. That is, unless already situated there, the medics are arriving in troubled villages after reports of an outbreak, not before there's an outbreak.

I don't know about all of that but isn't that only US government stuff ? Your government is shady and Americans been it since Colombus so yeah I can understand the if the US was involved alone. But we are not talking about a US intervention here... The Ebola disease which is currently spreading is a high mortality rate and highly infectious one and medics fighting it are off every complexion, every countries in the world. As a matter of fact there are probably more black doctors than whites on the field currently. It's a worldwide intervention to stop a disease which is currently out of control. Spread to 3 countries already.

Paranoia is understandable from the villagers. But what the doctors are trying to do is quarantine the infected in order to save the villagers who are not yet infected. If those villagers refuse that, it's a death sentence on them... 50 to 90% mortality rate man in a matter of weeks. Ebola is transmitted through bodily fluids and the epidemic was declining a few weeks back but it surged back because people are mobile and spread the disease through borders, because they hide it thus allowing it to spread more easily and because corpses are not washed properly during funerals which is a critical moment in the infection. What the doctors are trying to do in the village is inform people about the illness for their own sake.

And for our information : before the current outbreak, the last highest death toll was 280 in the 70s and was only about one town. The current one is at 720 and counting and touching 4 countries. It's a serious matter.
