Africans accuse African Americans of "appropriating" their culture (legitimate criticism?)

I'm aware of that

And he visited more than just that time:

Michael Jackson In Africa

Still not the same as people being real fans and knowing more of an artists music though

The fact that he was being mobbed by them, from kids to adults shows that they were aware of his music even if they didn't thoroughly know his music from top to bottom.

Post evidence that their lighter skin was noted back during the slave times.

As a matter of fact , post evidence that they have no admixture ( with european and/or arab and/or berber

No why YOU post evidence instead of me doing all the simple sh*t. I already posted "evidence" for you.

Matter fact here are some more...

"He disengaged himself from other life experiences and went back to a particular spot in his memory to capture the racial distinctions he was able to make. He saw no distinction in skin color between the red men in Igboland and the white men he met on the slave ship. "
--Jacob Korieh. 2009. Olaudah Equiano and the Igbo world: history, society and Atlantic. 2009

And I would just love for you to show us evidence of Igbos have significant amount of Arab, Berber or European admixture especially Arab and Berber when their are NO historical accounts of either of the two migrating into Igboland...

Yes it does mean jack , because their phenotype are unique when it comes to the vast majoirty of west africa

And???? They are still BLACK!

And stop acting like West Africans are some monolithic entity when in fact different West African groups have different origins and are extremely diverse. So what do you mean as "unique"...

The point is he had no large following all throughout Africa like that dude was trying to say who brought him up earlier

He was a world famous celebrity, with a government officially coordinating his visit and his welcome so not really surprising people turned up to cheer and greet him but his actual music was rarely known beyond one or two hits

That's just the reality, not knocking mj or anything because he's one of the greats but its just huge exaggeration to pretend he had so many fans throughout Africa

Africans Mourn Michael Jackson's Death

Michael Jackson's fame stretched around the world. In Africa, he was a legend and an inspiration. NPR's Africa correspondent Ofeibea Quist-Arcton remembers meeting Jackson when he visited Ivory Coast in 1992. She told Michel Martin that Africans all across the continent are mourning the loss.

The party was in the UK and I'm in agreement with you in regard to your sentiments in a general sense. I just don't agree with people saying that Africans don't play Black American music at parties because it simply isn't true. Additionally, Richie and Brown aren't more well known in Africa than Michael Jackson. I don't know where you're getting this from, MJ is one of the most famous people that ever lived.
ain't nobody said all that. I just said, dancehall and reggae and other Island music get played at African parties more than American artist do. African and Caribbean artist colab all the time because it's easier to mesh. Africans and West Indian youngsters dance almost the same anyways.

OK

I read the article

Doesn't change what I said about knowing his music though

His fanbase there was too limited compared to the kind of hyperbole that was stated earlier

How can his fanbase be limited when he was known all over? Older people around the world knew MJ since he was kid and Im sure the same held true in Africa. It's true most younger people probably only knew his Thriller to Dangerous era material.
