Africans accuse African Americans of "appropriating" their culture (legitimate criticism?)

Post evidence that their lighter skin was noted back during the slave times.

As a matter of fact , post evidence that they have no admixture ( with european and/or arab and/or berber[

Are you white or something?

It's usually only white people that have this crazy belief about there being no natural skin color variation in africa

You should be the one posting evidence for the things you believe

That's more than the average African would know of the other names mentioned. I was at a Nigerian party hours ago (the picture is in this thread) and Michael Jackson's music was being played.

We are talking about Africans in Africa

You are not in Africa right now. . .you're in the UK right?

He was just never that big there. ask your aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives or friends still in africa if they had or have any of his records and you'll likely get a resounding no

It's not that they didn't know who he was. . .he just didn't have that kind of following

In fact lots of famous black American musicians even ones that were known didn't have that big of a following on the continent

Some Africans would know and like Stevie wonders music especially with him having more celebrity but Curtis Mayfield herbie Hancock Donny Hathaway etc and so many others would be virtual unknowns and even some that were more well known like mj didnt have legions of fans or anything

The party was in the UK and I'm in agreement with you in regard to your sentiments in a general sense. I just don't agree with people saying that Africans don't play Black American music at parties because it simply isn't true. Additionally, Richie and Brown aren't more well known in Africa than Michael Jackson. I don't know where you're getting this from, MJ is one of the most famous people that ever lived.

Alright I do see what you're saying

On mj I know he's one of the most famous people ever but that's not the same as Africans really knowing and appreciating his music besides knowing a few singles. He was popular yes but if I asked any African in Africa young or old what singer sang pyt, remember the time, bad, etc very few could answer me without looking it up

No it's not. :childplease:
I never see Africans standing with AfrAms during times of injustices against Blacks in this country. Mike Brown, sandra Bland, etc.

As a matter of FACT, Africans mostly stand PROUDLY(almost spitefully, even) on the white side of the fence on those types of issues.

We arent sh!t but lazy bums to Africans.

They are literally some of the biggest tap dancing c00ns ever to walk this US soil..from my experience.

Now I know, you won't see that many Africans at those rallies, but to say they stand WITH the White racist, isn't entirely true either. A bit of an exaggeration.

And you will see AA defend the confederate flag, defend white racist who make stupid statements on blacks. The other day Dennis Rodman defended Hulk Hogan after saying racist shyt. Have AA come out a defend an white racist who shot up a black church, saying he was his friend. Now will you all shut the FUKK UP and stop trying to claim Africans are the biggest c00ns on earth. Acting like no one has said Africans can say shyt about African Americans. 36 Cot dayum pages over nothing, man some of you have no fukking lives. Just live to cause the next argument without even trying to find a solution. Bunch of pathetic losers. Got people in here talking shyt about Africans then next go in an African thread talking about the culture.

Kiiiindaaa true ya'll. Some folks in this thread talking bad about Africans and Black foreigners, will be on some other thread about women of the African Diaspora in other countries(Nigeria, Brazil, Jamaica) talking about wifing them, and such. But I think no one is above reproach. MOST people in this thread who are being critical of Africans, actually respect Black foreigners, but feel they haven't been given that respect in turn. And you're right, there are plenty of AA's who are c00ns themselves. Hey, it goes both ways.
