Africans accuse African Americans of "appropriating" their culture (legitimate criticism?)

Despite your insecurity and feelings of inferiority, House music will always be recognized as music that came from and was crafted in the ghettos of African Americans.
not by the general population. Maybe somewhere in the Encyclopedia when someone actually cares enough to look up.

And according to the general population, Africa is a backwards place of darkness and savagery where people live in mudhuts and chuck spears

so is that the standard we are using???? :troll:

There arent many tribes like the igbo. Vast majoirty are midnight skinned.

I think the igbo may have "other" blood in their veins from down the line.

That is people's perception, just like other blacks have bad perceptions around the world. Personally, I don't care.

Doesn't mean it's true. The genre is for everyone one now. More white care for it in America than AAs. It's no longer their culture because it's not practiced like that by the AA music community.

White people took it because you abandoned it after it initially took off. But they made it hotter. If y'all cared for it, y'all would have held on to it a little more like you did hip hop(even though it's already white controlled).

That is really strange, because this website says that you are wrong.

Have you ever heard of the number one song on the list.

I'm saying yall abandoned house music and white have totally changed it and made it their own. You can't claim it as your black culture now.

Take a look at number 1 on the all time house music list:

House music originated in the gay mostly black clubs in chicago in the 80's. the roots of house are disco and soul.

Kinda like how hip hop was a mostly black artform that got embraced by some whites and latinos, same thing with house.

so it is an AA artform

but outside of chicago, detroit, b-more and jersey and perhaps NY most blacks are not fukking with house music like that unless theyre 'different'.

they dont even mess with juke or ghetto house outside of the cities i mentioned.

try playing the perculator in memphis or Alabama and see how they react :russ:

They want attention from AA's and the diaspora so bad...

Yeah like the most influential black culture in the world wants to steal from Africans.

Those tweets and this thread is :laff: status. Ain't nobody wanna be Nigerian, Ghanaian, or none of that. You have a few agent provocateurs tryna start sh*t, you guys gotta smarten up and see these African sellout house nikkaz for what they really are.

House music is from the South and West Sides of Chicago. People have been playing it in basement parties since the 1970's. As a matter of fact pretty much all Black music starts among the poor Black people in America.

There were no gays involved in that music at that time. Hell it might be played among the gays now, because the White people are involved; but back then it was played by Black people. It is kind of like Disco music. Black Americans created it. White people from all over the World played it and now only the gays still listen to it.
