:mjlol:Alot of slavery based societies went broke after Britain outlawed slavery. Many African countrues were overdependant on slave labour and slave exports for economic activity and failed to industrialise and modernise. Thats why alot Islamic African countries such as Somalia and Niger, who were once quite prosperous during the 17th century went through severe economic and civil decline during the 20th century. The slave economy failed as the industrial age took off in Europe . Thats the source of so much of Africa economic woes. West African empires especially, as some kingdoms sole exports were slaves to the New World and Islamic caliphates and many kingdoms became so rich that they started waging wars on weaker kingdoms such as the igbo for the sole purpose of capturing slaves. Thats why many African Americans can trace their ancestry to the igbo people of nigeria

Most Igbo were captured and sold by other Igbo from different clans or towns.

:russ:This is the thing I dont get, some of these people who are criticising Aframs for cultural appropriation come from countries who music scenes have heavy African American pop and RNB elements. Look at Nigerias most viewed music video. I dont see Aframs complaining about Nigerians stealing African American music elements.

Compare that to Ethiopian and Eritrean music which uses heavy traditional habesha scalars thats distinct, even in genres such as Ethioblues which has alot of African American soul influence

This nikka low key tryna prop his country while accusing others of being Afram influence. :childplese:

I'm not Naija but you reaching heavy for some of those videos.

Most Igbo were captured by Efik people whom the British had armed. Some Igbos were tricked into slavery by the use of JuJu and it's priests and priestesses.

:pachaha:Those were the three most popular Nigerian music videos.
:yeshrug:Il admit my bias tho. I dont like whats happening ith the Nigerian music scene. They shud have maintained their music traditions instead adopting American pop music elements. Theyre gonna become a dominant cultural and economic force in Africa and they should be showing other African countries how to mantain their culture in the face of western cultural hegemomy. Instead theyre the first ones to succumb :snoop: Im proud that Ethiopia has maintained alot of its native music traditions and many artists are exporting Ethiopian music and culture to other East African countries like Sudan and Somalia.

true, A lot of Empires were actually Angry At the Europeans for outlawing slavery. And went to war with them.

my point is that There were certain people who were members of Groups that aided Europeans, that were given special privileges after Colonial times(EX the Hausa who dominated Nigerias politics for a long time) .

No they weren't mostly captured by Efik even though the Efik likely sold many of them. But I don't want to go off topic so I'll let you guys get back to shytting on those twitter clowns complaining about appropriation.

QUOTE ="DillaTUDE, post: 14455426, member: 20549"]So in other words... "I'll talk shyt about Africans on the internet all day and in some instances even physically attack them as some us Hebrew Israelites are noted for doing, despite knowing that the only reason that they harbour the feelings that they do towards African-Americans is due white supremacy... but when the time comes for me to fight white supremacy, I'll do nothing but march in the streets naked while screaming #BlackLivesMatter because I wouldn't want to get TOO aggressive with the white man now..." :whew:

Don't worry... Africans in the UK literally shut down the global economic hub in London during 2011 London Riots when the police murdered an unarmed black man and had white people FEARING for their lives. THAT WARRIOR SPIRIT HAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER LEAVE US. I'm just waiting for you African-Americans to stop attacking people that look just like you and aren't oppressing and go after the people who actually wield the power to oppress you? :ld:

But I get it... it's much easier to sit on your computer all day and complain about Africans immigrants on the internet, amirite? :francis:[ QUOTE ]

You are dumb if you think the majority of the black participants in those london riots were Africans. The vast majority of them were of carribean heritage.

I hear about how Africans in Britain turn their noses up at the Black Britians who are of carribean heritage as well .....but lets not talk about that :whoo:

Yeah, the younger generation of Africans certainly "turn up their noses" to black Carribeans... :snoop:

If you don't know what you're talking about then just say so, I know you a lot of you African-Americans have this weird affinity for adopting conspiracy theories that you have claiming that you're Hebrew Israelites and Ancient Egyptian descendants among other things, but please don't pull such lies out of your ass...

The differences between the younger generations of Africans and Carribeans is damn near neglible to the point that they fall under the umbrella of "Black British". Africans and Carribeans in the UK have no problems co-existing with each other unlike you African-Americans who literally create movements like "Team Light-Skinned" vs. "Team Dark-Skinned" and this "anti-African" shyt demonstrated in this thread to literally create divisions with other black people.

The majority of those rioting in the 2011 London Riots weren't of Carribean descent it was literally 50/50. Stop speaking on shyt you don't know of bruh, you're starting to sound an awful lot like the white man with these lies... :why:

Go to an African party even here in the diaspora, they'd most likely play dancehall and reggae before rap. African and Caribbean artist collab all the time.

I'm at one as we speak (a 50th birthday), they just played some Michael Jackson. :francis:

Then you must be talking about through the Aro Confederacy. However, not all of the people in the Confederacy were Igbo. Not only that but the Confederacy got it's power through the armament of the British; just like the King of Dahomey were armed by the Europeans so he could wage war against the Yoruba people.

"...The other major slave-exporting state was a loose confederation under the leadership of the Aro, an Igbo clan of mixed Igbo and Ibibio origins, whose home was on the escarpment between the central Igbo districts and the Cross River. Beginning in the late seventeenth century, the Aro built a complex network of alliances and treaties with many of the Igbo clans. They served as arbiters in villages throughout Igboland, and their famous oracle at Arochukwu, located in a thickly wooded gorge, was widely regarded as a court of appeal for many kinds of disputes. By custom the Aro were sacrosanct, allowing them to travel anywhere with their goods without fear of attack. Alliances with certain Igbo clans who acted as mercenaries for the Aro guaranteed their safety. As oracle priests, they also received slaves in payment of fines or dedicated to the gods by their masters as scapegoats for their own transgressions. These slaves thereby became the property of the Aro priests, who were at liberty to sell them... ."
