And no, the stuff I said can't be said for any country. America has the biggest prison pop by far, America has actively destroyed movements that were geared towards the improvement and upward mobility of black people. How can you be proud of that? Only thing about America that makes me proud are the black people that survived her onslaught. And I totally agree its something you should be proud of too. But the only credit this land has in black culture is providing the atmosphere. We look at shyt totally different, you think something like stop and frisk policies or human beings gettin locked away in tiny boxes as some small evil while I look at them as just more blemishes on an extremely ugly face.

How could the dream of died when Pan Africanism became bigger after Garvey's death? Pan Africanism has a greater chance than ever with globalization taking hold.

Despite all the negatives in American history, Black-Americans should still be proud to be Black-American. They have fought, killed, shed blood and died for the country and are stakeholders in the country.

Regarding Pan-Africanism, I somewhat agree that it still has chance with globalization pushing forward. But I think rather than focus on political and economic Pan-Africanism African people should focus on cultural Pan-Africanism. That was what the late great Cheikh Anta Diop was doing with the books he was writing. He wrote books on the historical, cultural, spiritual and linguistic unity of African people.

Africans need to let go of that superiority complex. Chances are your family ain't shyt. It made (and still makes) me upset when my mom would get pissed and ramble about nonsense when I showed interest in AA women.

some Black Americans also have a superiority complex

when addressing the issue you need to acknowledge that it goes both ways

Isn't odd that that Africans here are "go-getters" and "productive" yet the countries many of them come from are "go-nowheres" and "unproductive"?

this is not necessarily true.

I wouldn't say every African that comes here are go getters

and I also wouldn't say that every African country is unproductive

maybe in your case (Nigeria) that may ring true

I don't understand why some of yall are not understanding where @Poitier is coming from. I clearly get him.

Black-Americans or African-Americans (whatever you prefer) are their own tribe, a new tribe and they should be respected and acknowledged as such. He's trying to say they have a culture and history (although new and still developing) that was born and bred here. I think Blacks coming from Africa, the Carribbean, UK or anywhere else need to understand this and get aligned with the direction they are going in...because this is their home. Stop being so antagonistic towards them.

Exactly. It's still all love. I try to learn about other African Diasporas as much as possible, but boy do I love my own.

The vast majority of Africans that are here go so because of workers' and student visas so they are already geared towards being go-getters. The demographics of Nigerians here are only from a few tribes that value education and progress unlike some other tribes who happen to have ruled Nigeria for the vast majority of its existence. Whenever you meet a Nigerian just ask them what tribe or region they are from and you will understand that its almost the same few tribes that are leaving Nigeria for better opportunities.

Wanting to be called "Black" and not "African American" is not distancing from Africa. It's acknowledging and instilling pride in what we have accomplished in America. A Jamaican immigrant, a Ghanian, a Canadian Black all immigrate to USA and are all "African Americans", it's not a specific term. It's a catchall for ANY African from ANY part of the world living in America. We are African American but more specifically, WE ARE BLACK. I don't have issue with any other African that ain't from America and shows respect, only when you think you have the right answers and can tell us what we should call ourself or how we should view the world. You don't have a seat at the table.

Yes, because those guys were actually born in those country, and they can go back 10 generations and all of their family members are born in the same country. Not a single Black American is just a "Ghanian" or an "Algerian", we are all mutts with different African nations in our blood, Whitemen, Native Americans, etc. I doubt African nations teach you ignorant fukks this though because it was your bytchazz ancestors who sold our people out in the first place.

And you have the nerve to claim you don't hate Africans :heh:. You have issues with us but you're too much of a fakkit to just admit it. Between the bolded and those insipid, unprovoked "jealousy" comments it's painfully obvious how you really feel :patrice:.

Kingdoms like Dahomey and Oyo sold other Africans for commerce and that's disgusting but the vast majority of slaves were just kidnapped by Europeans. That and a significant chunk of Africa had nothing to do with slavery.

Not really. I honestly never think about you guys in angry terms unless one of you, like some of the posters in this thread, come in here and start making ignorant generalizations about us and yet know not even a fraction of our culture and history. If you aren't Black and feel you have a say, I will feel some type of way about that....

Also my comments were "unprovoked", they were in regards to the thread topic of "biased West Indians and Africans." You do that much hating, in general, you're jealous imo

:mjpls:

I'm sorry bruh, but Blacks are the envy of all other Africans. They wished they were natural citizens of the USA, the greatest and most prosperous lands.

Nope, you said every last one of us envy "Blacks" (AA's). You make ignorant generalizations out of nowhere because TS showed repentance and shame regarding the attitudes of SOME Africans/Caribbeans in his community and you somehow felt compelled by that to spew xenophobic, ethnocentric vomit at all other blacks.

"You do that much hating, in general, you're jealous imo"

^^I agree bro that's why I'm more than certain about your distaste for foreign blacks :youngsabo:.

And Africans have been called "black" and have been self identifying as "black" forever. You're going to need a new word to distinguish yourself.

Let's not kid ourselves.... There's no such thing as pan-Africanism. That dream died when the U.S. government deported Marcus Garvey back to Jamaica. The evidence is as clear as day. I doubt that dream is ever realized....

You are beyond confused friend. Pan-Africanism is a MINDSET. As long as one African on the continent or in the diaspora has this mindset IT EXISTS FRIEND.

Pan Africanism will never die friend. And unfortunately, neither will c00ning.

Im Ghanian and proud...my girl is Jamaican and proud.

I have no problem with African Americans. nor do my parents. Ive seen this topic come up here before and personally I never experienced it. My family doesnt give a sh!t if you live in the states :heh: what kind of dumb sh!t is that. I have noticed though that alot of AA's seem to distance themselves from there ancestory. Almost like there ashamed to be decendents from Africa. its like they rather be part of the "other" side. which is c00ning imo...but even still..I just let them c00n...I dont care enough to give a sh!t anymore

If anything, I noticed more tension between africans and west indians. alot of africans think jamaicans give us a bad name by "always" being in the news. and alot of west indians, along with AA's try to distance themselves from africa. Whats funny is Africa is a place to be proud of, we are successful people. Obama is African..and alot of other successful black people ive seen come from Africa. we work hard and get sh!t done...so why people would wanna distance themselves from us is beyond me :yeshrug:

I say if they hate, just late em hate, and watch the money pile up...:russ:
