Jamaican word for simpleton, blasted idiotWhat's a claffy
yup!My fam is Jamaican and I've never heard the word claffy. He's definitely a fassy though
Technically he has a point, because look at the Samoans while obviously of African lineage, they don't identify with it not only because of colonization, but primarily because of how far removed they are from said heritage.
Maybe I just don't see race the way you do...
I noticed that someone made a delineation between race and ethnicity here in the Americas... That's something I'd like to clear up..
When I'm speaking of Black History in the Americas I am talking about our ethnic history.. Which is what we connect to.
So, to my point, Black ppl in the Americas start their history where their ethnic history begins...be it Haiti, DR, Cuba, or Jamaica.
Why are you guys pretending, or surprised that a Black person in this hemisphere has no historical ties to Africa other than the fact that all black ppl came from Africa?
That African history, although is part of us all, has no true meaning to us.
I never hear anyone say "I'm not Jamaican, I'm African." Or "I'm not Haitian, I'm African"...
For Blacks in the Americas we are people of the Americas culturally. That's our history.
I'm not only talking about Americans. I'm talking about all Blacks in the Americas. We all got here the same way...but our history starts with our arrival here.

I agree. With AA's it does start here and unfortunately it's with an immoral past.I'm not only talking about Americans. I'm talking about all Blacks in the Americas. We all got here the same way...but our history starts with our arrival here.
Your ancestors had a language, culture, and were part of a nation of peoples. There's more to them than being sent to the new world as slaves.
No it does not, that's the point.
Black people in the Americas are the only group of people who ended up in the new world by force, not willingly. It's not as if they choice to leave their ancestral home behind, like whites have. And black peoples culture was forcibly erased, unlike others. Hence they had to recreate an identity by scratch.
