Hilarious considering the reason Malcolm made that quote was for people like you who believes our history began with Slavery :heh:
I know right. :lolbron:

No point in really arguing this subject.

Our history in this country is dependent on our relationship to whites. By not acknowledging our history prior to slavery he's saying that blacks are inferior to whites, which makes no sense. His next argument might be that we have a black president, but in all honestly that hasn't put blacks as a whole on the same playing field as whites in this country.

I'm done with this convo:snoop:

Aight, I hear you guys coming from the American perspective...I'll respond directly to you guys when I get home..

But what about the Black ppl from other countries?

When does your history start? Cause y'all have your own nations to be proud of..why would a Jamaican say his history is in Africa?...

I'm not saying that we all didn't come from there...but the connection is with Jamaica, not some African country

Breh, please go take a black history course, you're seriously embarrassing yourself :snoop:

How do you think Jamaicans ended up in Jamaica :dahell:

Just like blacks in North America, blacks in South America and the Caribbean are also descendants of West African slaves. Here's a picture of Jamaican slaves in 1891.

It's why Jamaica is now leading the charge for all people in the Caribbean to get reparations

People like you are literally the reason why black history month was created because you seem woefully ignorant of our history :wow:

Why can't you connect with both? The difference between Blacks and other races is that they were removed from their homes and placed somewhere else by force. And then had their history whitewashed. So I think it's important to know why.

No offense but who gives you the right a non-AA to dictate to us what we should celebrate and what we shouldn't celebrate? No offense but I have grown tired of non-AA's whether black, white, Latino telling us what we should study and what we should not study.

I'm not only talking about Americans. I'm talking about all Blacks in the Americas. We all got here the same way...but our history starts with our arrival here.

The breh might be trolling, but he also might just be completely ignorant of our history which, unfortunately, a lot of black people are. But that's to be expected when you let your enemy educate your children

Yes African-Americans, Haitians, Jamaicans, Afro-Brazilians and Afro-Dominicans history as "ethnic groups" starts with the Atlantic slave trade. But the term "black" comprises of many different ethnic around the world that share the same "race". And yes people from Africa. So one can interpret "Black History Month" anyway and so far I have not seen any rules that state black history month is only limited to the history in America.

That is the white narrative.

African History is African History.

Black History, as I'm using it here, is the history of Black ppl in the Americas.

That is circular reasoning, and is not an ample response to what I asked of you. Either you're trolling or you simply don't know what you are talking about.

What defines and makes up history? Answer that question and proceed from there.

the belly of the empire
but I doubt they go back and connect to any particular African nation

white supremacy in the Americas INHERENTLY rely on the projected "fact" that black people's history STARTED AT SLAVERY. So what are you trying to say?

The west Africans didn't suddenly lose their language and religion and identity when they stepped on a ship, you sound like you're in denial.

Pretend these countries don't have Africa deeply embedded in their cultures...

Pretend creoles don't exist.

Pretend vodou, santeria, canomble, etc don't exist.

Pretend Marcus Garvey didn't start Pan-Afrcanism...

All of these survived. So what do you mean there's no connection?

In history classes in all of america, cacs are subconciously taught that blacks are inferior to them. That is the intellectual foundation of America.

Just because you can't go to a country in Africa and relate to them as cousins and they don't personally see you as African or whatever doesn't make our connection void.

Are you Dominican?
