this is a GREAT idea & its very very important. This is why we have all of our business out in the street instead of handling things on the inside & getting attention to the political guys we elect. This is one of the major problems we need to fix.
We got to form lobbying for black folks & not have all these panels and specials talking about what's wrong. Combine the lobbyist with black
Venture Capitalist and we got something going
Anyway I was gonna make a long post but classes started again for me yesterday and I dont have the time to go all out with the analysis. Anyway here is what I would ask for Dems/Obama.
1. That "Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families" Act he helped write up when he was a Senator. It is not a perfect bill by any means but he should make certain tweaks to it to help lessen the problem of fathers dealing with substantial child support that is often misused by women and over the top.
2. National Decriminilization of Marijuana and Not only Pushing for Legalization but the Setting up Of Dispensaries Across The Country.
3. Reverse the Law Passed By Bush's Congress that made the Post Office have to pay mandatory health care benefits for people not even born for yet over the next 75 years; This is a large reason why they are having this problem now with black unemployment(as many of us are in the USPS field) and the huge "recession" the post office is still going through.
The Bush White House and Republican Congress passed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act -- an incredible piece of legislation requiring the agency to pre-pay the health care benefits not only of current employees, but also of all employees who'll retire during the next 75 years. Yes, that includes employees who're not yet born! No other agency or corporation in America has to do this.
^Besides reversing the idiotic plan that Bush and his Congress brought into effect, they can go further with giving federal aid to the USPS, making it go back to the old system so we are not only funded by postage stamps(thats kind of sad) , and while they are at it, fund for more government union jobs because those are the types of professions African Americans stay in alot.
4. Youth Inner City Jobs Program
Pass a Jobs Plan for specifically the inner city areas like Southside Chicago,so the youth have more things to stay focused on and this rise in violence drastically decreases.
It can possibly be from the ages of 14 to 25(something like this) and be everything from work at health care clinics(to address the issue of STDS/HIV awareness much more up close) , community organizations, barbershops, public parks work, postal office jobs if they get the USPS running again, delivering newspapers AND magazines(people say delivering newspapers is a dead field but magazines like in the case of my mother with "Essence" magazine are still very popular and getting tons of subscriptions.
Work on the boardwalk of beaches, churches, garbage cleaning,etc
I had a summer job several years ago cleaning out foreclosed homes. With the problem with foreclosure nowadays, it is a shame political figures did not also think of that.
That could be something else attached to the inner city jobs program, having youth from the ages I listed above, clean out these foreclosed homes, take pictures(that was what i was required to do) and organize it to make sure it is ready for the next person who comes.
Provide Grants through this Inner Jobs Program, to help the parents of these youth, help set up a family business since African Americans out of other ethnicities(especially Asians with nail salons and Arabs with corner stores and bodegas,etc) seem to be the only ethnicity lacking our own businesses besides barbershops.
5. Pass The Fair Minimum Wage Act to have the minimum wage rise past $9. It is pathetic that our minimum wage in the 50s was up around $10 and how we regressed.

7. Provide Federal Funding For Afterschool Programs Nationwide
8. Expand Early Childhood Education even further by making sure every child has the means to have access to pre-school by expanding Early Head Start and Head Start
9. Push For More States to End the "Three-Strike" rule, and provide more mental health care for those who are hardcore drug addicts instead of isolating them in a dark prison cell.

There are about 2 million Black veterans. Stop being wimps as Democrats are known for being and push for Republicans to stop blocking that "Veterans Job Corps Act", which would help out those 2 million(about average) Black veterans to bring down the Black unemployment even more.
11. If A STEM Jobs bill is ever passed, make sure to let African Americans know that the field lacks alot of them and they need more contribution and basically letting them know of its benefits so we will have less and less black families thinking Nurse school or Law School are the only things that you can do.
12. Help Ex-Offenders(minor) who mainly had petty crimes like marijuana in the Drug War find employment possibly by being involved someway in the inner city jobs program. Or through USPS work, or funding their education as a reprieve.
13. Provide Comprehensive Sex Education to help deal with the country constantly having the highest rate of pregnancies and STDS especially in the Black and Hispanic communities. The abstinence only approach we always teach is one of the main reasons why we are still in this predicament.
Most of the cacs that want to do business already have capital while regular black folks don't. Getting in the game to gain some capital to start a business is our major hurdle it seems. WE DON'T OWN ISH
