That's exactly what it was. They threw AEW some incentives to move, so the optics wouldn't look like they are kicking AEW from their time slot in exchange for the NHL. That type of thing happens in the business world all the time to save face with all parties involved.

TBS is a dead channel that mainly only shows reruns, so they could afford to throw them an extra show as any ratings from it would be way better than what's being current generated.

It's a weird obsession that some dudes on this site have with wanting one wrestling company to fail compared to another. People should want them to both to succeed so you don't run into situations like this where AEW essentially got forced by a network to move channels, which is exactly what ended up happening.

If this deal was such a step up for AEW as more eyes would watch their product, then why didn't the NHL make the move to TBS instead with all the millions that were paid for the rights to air the games? The NHL is bringing a set of eyes and revenue that AEW never could in their current timeline and it's okay to say that. I truly hope that the move works out for them and TBS didn't give them the shaft as they've done with other shows.

Baseball is on TBS and that's bigger than the NHL.. there's not a rhyme or reason they are basically the same channel

At worst, it's a lateral move. Being on TBS, they at least don't have to be worried about being preempted for a month or so due to NBA and NHL playoffs. Plus they'll still have a weekly TNT show and quarterly specials so there will still be a TNT presence.

I'd say this is almost entirely what this is about, especially since they're giving them a third hour and specials (that'll probably air in off PPV months) on the same channel they just got supposedly kicked off of, but you ain't about to tell stans shyt.
