You're not making any sense. AD is a better runner while LTwas asked to do more things.

Basically all running backs hit a wall in their early 30s, and this isn't a new development.

Emmitt's last great year came at age 26. He continued to chug along and compile numbers into his early 30s, but he was no longer a game breaker.

LT had his last great year at age 28, but he had a few productive seasons after that. Both LT and Emmitt fell off substantially as they approached 30. The main difference is Emmitt was able to hang around a little longer churning out 900 yard seasons.

AD has never played in heavy pass out the backfield offenses. I don't think he's LTs caliber of receiver, but he certainly could have been put in open space more than he was over his career. But when you have a runner that has as many 50 plus yard runs as AD has had over his career, you keep him in the backfield

Peterson tore his ACL and came back the following season with almost 1500 rushing yards. :damedashohyeah:

Rushed for over 2000 yards coming off the ACL injury. Got to almost 1500 coming off that year suspension

Anyway, whatever your view on those seasons, note that 1999 marked Emmitt's age 30 season, and note that the next year was the last time he averaged over 4 yards per carry.

The point is, running backs have always declined substantially by the time they are around 30 years old.

I get what you're saying but I don't think that's a equivalent comparison.
Goal of a pitcher is to get a batter out first and foremost. Doesn't matter what pitch they use. Goal of a RB is first and foremost to run the ball well. Of course pass blocking and pass catching are very important, but they are more offense-dependent things.

AD never caught many passes for 2 reasons

1. He never had a QB to catch passes from. He had a career high 43 catches the year he played with Favre and he had 40 in 2012 with bum ass Ponder under center.

I'm sure he would've had more pass catching opportunities playing with Breesus Christ and Philip Rivers too

2. The offense AD played in under Bill Musgrave never called or asked him to catch the ball or run routes. He played in a totally different style offense than LT did, with less talent around him too. LT isnt catching many passes either in Minnesota breh

that would be my top 5. remember LT ran sub 4.4 and he could do it all. he is a better marshall faulk. AD is the most violent runner i've seen. slight edge over dikkerson, oj, and allen

I can't with the football acumen on here sometimes.

He has more 50 yard runs than almost every pass receiver has receiving plays and an offense is supposed to have him out catching swing passes? Why...to prove some point?

If you have a HR threat at any given moment out of the backfield, you keep him there
