Feels like Tomlinson was the beginning of the don't pay rbs close to 30. The generation before him had Smith, Martin, Bettis who were alll production after they turned 30 but Ladsinlisn fell of son as he got close to 30, abruptly.

Basically all running backs hit a wall in their early 30s, and this isn't a new development.

Emmitt's last great year came at age 26. He continued to chug along and compile numbers into his early 30s, but he was no longer a game breaker.

LT had his last great year at age 28, but he had a few productive seasons after that. Both LT and Emmitt fell off substantially as they approached 30. The main difference is Emmitt was able to hang around a little longer churning out 900 yard seasons.

LT was definitely more versatile. AP had fumbling problems earlier on, isn't a good pass blocker, not a good receiver out of the backfield but his violent running style was just amazing.

I've seen AP pause in the middle of a touchdown run for no other reason other than to throw a young man out of the way on the way to the end zone
