I think the suspension is justified. He should get his pay, but not play again until next season.

You guys don't seem to understand what I am really arguing for. Peterson and Ray Rice are potentially jeopardizing the earning potential for THOUSANDS of people who did NOTHING wrong because of what they THEY DID. How can people stand up for this on a purely economic impact it can have to THOUSANDS of families?

The NFL took his pay away to appear to show no tolerance, do they really think that part of their suspension will stick? Probably not, but they had to take that hard stance initially.

Do I think AP was wrong? Hell yeah he was, but you also have to understand that if the thing continued to snowball the NFL could have risked sponsors and fans...you simply can't do that because a dumbass did not realize he was abusing his child.

My point is still why isn't the 9 games he missed already enough. The problem is the NFL's inaction is what caused the snowball. What started the whole snowball in the first place was Goodell giving Rice two games and then not having a strong enough voice to stand behind that decision. Then they come out with the new rule to suspend a minimum of 6 games and that started to quiet a lot of the noise. If they had just came out and suspended AP 6 games initially that would have stopped thes nowball affect as well. A precedent would be set and the players would know what to expect.

What is keeping the noise going is the league consistently changing policy which is pissing players off and has the media on guard and ready to pounce at Goodell's lack of leadership and consistency. So now the player has to suffer over the league's incompetence which is what I have a problem with.

I agreed that Peterson deserved to be punished and I think he has been punished enough at this point. Right now I think he is being made an example of by the NFL to try and cover up for their shortcomings which is what I take major offense with.

Yes, partly because the NFL acted the way they did and HANDLED the situation.

Take an argumentation class and come back to me. You have NO LOGIC and no real base for your points. I am done wasting my time with you.

Pfffttt. The sponsor wasn't going to sever ties anyways. Stop it.
I don't know where your high horse come from, but I actually countered every nosense dribble you post. You're lost, kiddo.

the vikings put him on the exempt list... not the NFL... The NFL didn't step in until today... AP has still been collecting his checks each week for not playing. The Vikings wanted him away from the team because of the media backlash that was going to follow him... Do you really want every question asked in the locker room after the game to each player by the reporters to be "have you ever seen Adrian beat his child? Do you condone what he's done?" You have to step back like the Vikings did and look at what is best for the team and that is why they told him to go home and take care of this.

Now here's the kicker... HE PLEAD GUILTY!!!! You know god damn well that Goodell was going to take action the second he took that plea bargain.

Wrong. It's commissioner exempt list. Vikings was going let him play until the pics came out.NFL took over afterwards. Plus he pleaded no contest.

Numerous reports say he already has appealed and why wouldn't he?

Legally speaking what the NFL has done here goes against CBA...The suspension should be in line with other misdemeanor offenses which this suspension clearly isnt...You also have the question of time served...

Goodell suspended AP based off media reports, not solid evidence and he completely disregarded the legal conclusion of the case...Again the NFL had no access to any evidence outside of what the media has reported because the case involves a minor...In other words no judge in his right mind would uphold this suspension because there is no legal basis for it...
The Vikings suspended him initially, not the NFL.

This some bullshyt. About 80 percent of white and Hispanic parents admit that they spank their kids. In 19 states it’s still legal for teachers and staff to punish children with spankings at school.
Spanking your kid and hitting them with a switch is two different things bruh......I remember as a kid principal's had the authority to hit you with a paddle.....now that was some bullshyt.....a open hand spanking to your child is acceptable to me....but hitting them with some sort of object to enforce the punishment is abuse.....

Goodell bit:

“First, the injury was inflicted on a child who was only four years old. The difference in size and strength between you and the child is significant, and your actions clearly caused physical injury to the child," Goodell wrote. "While an adult may have a number of options when confronted with abuse – to flee, to fight back, or to seek help from law enforcement – none of those options is realistically available to a four-year old child. Further, the injury inflicted on your son includes the emotional and psychological trauma to a young child who suffers criminal physical abuse at the hands of his father.

“Second, the repetitive use of a switch in this instance is the functional equivalent of a weapon, particularly in the hands of someone with the strength of an accomplished professional athlete.

“Third, you have shown no meaningful remorse for your conduct. When indicted, you acknowledged what you did but said that you would not ‘eliminate whooping my kids’ and defended your conduct in numerous published text messages to the child’s mother. You also said that you felt ‘very confident with my actions because I know my intent.’ These comments raise the serious concern that you do not fully appreciate the seriousness of your conduct, or even worse, that you may feel free to engage in similar conduct in the future."

:salute: to Roger on this one

Wow, this whole situation is fukked up right now. I'm not stating that what AD did was right but the league and the public has no right on dictating how a parent is suppose to discipline their kids. This issue is for the parents to decide, not the court of public opinion.

The league saw the welps on the child's body from the switch
