Those Houston teams played ball the way people play 2K. 3s or layups. They avoided midrange shots completely.

I can’t think of anything can really be done.

Implement FIBA rules such as making the 3 point line shorter and court slightly less wide so the 3 pointer is easier to defend with less court to cover. The USA vs Serbia Olympics game had a lot of 3 point shooting but it was exciting.

Nothing wrong with shooting 3s within the flow of offense but these teams are just spamming 3s back and forth like a bad video game.

As for the 3s…I posted about the Nuggets/Cavs where virtually all the stats were the same between both but Cavs made 22 3s while Denver made 6 and took 24 3s overall, while having one less made shot than the Cavs (46 to 47). So unless you got Joker on your team to get extremely efficient 2s, even then the 3s will start to add up over the 2s

The 3s add up over 2s only when one team is having great shot variance from 3 and in that case it is what it is. Just because a team gets hot from 3 doesn’t mean it should turn the game into a 3 point contest.

I mean that is Wilt but Curry is famed for his 3 point shot, something that has been in the league since the 60's. The only reason we are talking about this is because number nerds and dumb coaches force players to take these shots.

Players that have no business shooting them are given the green light, taking threes when you have a player advantage on a fast break, being under or right next to the basket and passing it to a mediocre shooter at the line instead of a layup, etc.....

If you do not have the type of players that can shoot like Curry or have a team like the Warriors at their peak, then you should not try to emulate them. Playing the game like it is an actual video game is the problem.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but are you saying the 3pt shot has been in the league since the 60s? The 3pt shot was added in the 1979-80 season.

If you pass the max amount then every shot after is worth two points.
