They also make too much money too easily now, they can coast, take nights off and still receive $100 million dollar contracts. That's also a small factor.
That’s more than a small factor. NBA players aren’t earning their money like other professional athletes

You have to have the balls to tell your players that they need to stop shooting and get in the damn paint. It works for the Celtics cause they can shoot. It doesnt work for most other teams.
Houston- got talent up and down that roster, but they shoot 32% from 3 and take 36/game. There is no reason why 6'10 Jabari Smith is taking 5 3's a game. Van Vleet shooting 30%. Time to drive to the basket. 3's arent good shots if you cant hit them.
20 guys are taking 8 or more 3's a game- 9 of them are shooting less then 36% (league average). They are just taking bad shots

If teams replaced half their 3 point shots with midrange shots the ratings would not change one bit, and fans will still complain about the game.
It used to be that guys took three pointers for three-point shooters or there would be the random before halftime or end of quarter full court shot.

I'm fine with guys expanding their game and being able to be more diverse and be less predictable with being guarded. But the de facto shot of every single player on the court heaving up a 30 ft 3-pointer is indefensible. There are games where literally three point shots or exchanged for an entire 3 to 4 minute time period.

Spamming 3s is the best strategy offensively and defenses can’t do shyt about it because they also gotta guard the rim.
