the NBA has a problem on their hands and its not just limited to the 3pt barrage - the product is boring and not interesting at the moment. we're seeing it manifest in disappointing viewership #s and general public sentiment. every corner of the internet is lined with similar discourse we see here about how the product is bad at the moment. Nearly EVERYONE I know irl feels the same way, I know diehard NBA fans --- "fanatics" even -- that have drifted from the game (myself included). I know my experience is shared by MANY, I do think the NBA needs to reengineer the product a bit for it be more enjoyable to consume

On a nightly basis, it's just not competitive enough. It looks like dudes just going through the motions and with guys spamming 3's, it looks even worse. At least in the playoffs these guys are competing at a higher level and it makes it entertaining even if they're all spamming 3s.

This will never happen, but if they remove guaranteed contracts and these guys have to play for contracts year in year out like the NFL, the competition would be a lot higher.
