And if that's your opinion, you're not wrong.

The disconnect here is that you don't speak for everyone else. Other people like the product. Just as if you like a different style of play and someone else might not like that. I don't know why y'all cats who criticize today's game seem to think that everyone in the country and around the world thinks they same as you do.

If it's not a problem, Adam Silver and the league wouldn't be looking into solving an issue on it.

You can stick your head in the sand all you want. The league's ratings are down in the US (which is important btw) and the shots attempted are abysmal

the NBA has a problem on their hands and its not just limited to the 3pt barrage - the product is boring and not interesting at the moment. we're seeing it manifest in disappointing viewership #s and general public sentiment. every corner of the internet is lined with similar discourse we see here about how the product is bad at the moment. Nearly EVERYONE I know irl feels the same way, I know diehard NBA fans --- "fanatics" even -- that have drifted from the game (myself included). I know my experience is shared by MANY, I do think the NBA needs to reengineer the product a bit for it be more enjoyable to consume
Yea it honestly has nothing to do with 3 pt shooting

Except that's NOT what the NBA is doing.

The thread title is bait.

Did you not read the article?

Here's what Silver believes about TV ratings -

"I would just say, to say it directly, ratings are down a bit at the beginning of the season, but cable television viewership is down double digits so far this year versus last year," Silver said. "We're almost at the inflection point where people are watching more programming on streaming than they are in traditional television. And it's a reason why for our new television deals, which we're entering into next year, every game is going to be available on a streaming service.

"And as we move to streaming services, putting aside how the actual game is played on the floor, it's going to allow us from a production standpoint to do all kinds of things that you can't do through traditional television. All kinds of new functionality, all kinds of new options and screens that are available."

The NBA just signed a $77b media rights deal, do you really think TV ratings matter as much like you're trying to state?

Here's the shift in cable viewership over the last 15 years -

“Currently, Cable TV subscriptions are in just 68.7 million households in the United States. That’s a decline of 34.57% compared to 105 million cable TV subscribers recorded in 2010.”

The decline in TV ratings has nothing to do with the style of play of today's NBA. If the NBA had the style of play that you wanted, the TV ratings would be relatively the same. The TV ratings are reflective of cable dying in this country and that the league typically has less viewership before Christmas. Not the style of play that is happening on the floor.

Imagine going from Kobe to LeBron to Steph to Luka/Giannis/Jokic and wonder why ratings are down.

gotta go back to David Stern for branding the NBA players instead of the teams
