Also I wouldn’t give full blame to Zion & Ja

Folks forget that Wiggins & Jabari both came in with crazy hype, Canadian Kobe & the next Melo and didn’t live up to it. Wiggins is good but never took that leap to be great and after two torn ACL’s Bari’s NBA career was basically done

Then comes Ben Simmons in 2016, Klutch’s heir to LeBron. Basically peaked as a rookie, never learned to shoot, fukked up his back and now he’s a role player no one cares about

Tatum was never supposed to be the guy out that 2017 draft, it was Fultz & Lonzo. Fultz a mental midget that’s not even in the league anymore, Lonzo injury prone and even when healthy never became more than a high level role player

That whole era of YouTube HS/college were supposed to be in their prime right now.

And shame on Adam Silver for letting get into this point and not doing something about it before it reached this level.

This is not rocket science to watch that this game is absolutely ridiculously out of control. He was supposed to be on top of this when the Rockets implemented this bullshyt.

And where the fukk are the coaches watching nikkas brick shot after shot?!!!!

Say what you want David Stern would never allow this to happen for this long.

What's happened to the NBA is the same thing that happened to the Marvel studio brand. It turned off the hardcore fans who brought in the casuals and now nobody's watching it.

They need to worry about who they are gonna replace Bron and steph with.

Can’t think of anyone with the star power of those two.

That’s what the NBA is missing. Some bonafide superstars for the next generation.

If nobody cares about the league as a whole, what does it matter.

They don't have do anything to penalize shooters to fix this.
They just need to make it easier for interior scorers to get their buckets. Maybe go back to man on man. So bigs like Embiid and them don't have to kick the ball out to shooters when getting doubled in the paint. give them 7 seconds in the lane instead of 5. something like that.

The need to incentivize interior and mid range scoring. Not disincentivize three point shooting.
if they do that things will balance out.

More points on less shots, and without the physicality of going inside is also an incentive. If everyones wrong about the "big men are soft and dont like to bang:damn:" narrative that may work. But if everyones right they will keep shooting their 3's.

Steph curry made the game unwatchable

Such a dumb statement. Stephen and the warriors played at a insane pace, beautiful backdoor passing and off ball movement.

Shot alot of mid range jumpers the backdoor passes lead to many layups and dunks.

It was Harden and the Rockets who spammed 3s and foul baiting that garbage up the game

:beli:.

Asking people who can shoot to take shots and asking dudes who are better rebounding, blocking shots and screens is not asking for anything other than good basketball.

If I'm so wrong why are the ratings down and people complaining and the commissioner of the NBA openly admitting that this is an issue?

Get rid of that basic ball zone shyt.
Bring illegal defense back.
This is is a men's league. Not the continuation of college basketball in the ncaa.

I honestly think people just want diversity in playing style. It’s like if I implemented a read option with Brady as my QB.
No they dont. How do I know? The Lakers, Mavs, Nuggets, Cs play nothing alike. Yes relative to previous eras they take a lot of 3s but the styles are different. Compare that to the era most are pining for. How diverse was that? Clear out and let your best player take his man off the dribble or post up. To the point about football its the same thing. Way more passing now but different approaches. Best believe if rushing TDs were worth 9 pts teams everybody would be tush pushing. But they would go about getting down there in different ways. Thats what we see in the NBA.

You claim those teams play nothing alike but they play a lot more alike than basketball teams or the last. The idea that the era people are pining for what clear out for your best player is oversimplified but even if I pretend that I fully agree with that - it meant different things because the star player on each team played differently.

But also you’re talking about the logic of playing a certain way because of the value of the 3, which I don’t disagree with. I’m talking about the logic of doing that when your team isn’t good at it and continuing to do it even when you’re off. I don’t care how good of a rushing team you are, if a defense is stopping the run, an NFL team will come out passing.

Its the same thing now though. Embiid doesnt play like Steph. Tatum doesn't play like Luka. AD doesnt play like Joker. Yes they all put up 3s (AD not really actually but more than most bigs in the past) but they go about it differently. Their games are all different.

For starters there is no inherent value in running over passing or vice versa. Hence the 9pt rushing TD point. Way more teams would force the run against the most stout run D if they could get 9 points. Beyond that, plenty of cosches are stubborn or stupid or dont have the personel to try to pivot. You had a big controversy about 2 deep safeties this year when the very obvious counter to that us just running the ball.

Shooting 3s is about more than making them. The threat is necessary to open up driving lanes or allow for post ups. And its a streaky shot. But you cant afford to not take them. If a team makes 6 more 3s than you thats 18 pts you gotta make up elsewhere and if you aint shooting 3s doing that stuff is even harder.

Damn

Steph Curry is gonna get a lot of blame for this btw. Fair or not he influenced a lot of this trash. Of course it's not his fault these other guys lost their minds and only want to shoot 3s and do nothing else

Only following what they see, lets get back to some real basketball/scoring in an assortment of ways.
