Only real problem that the nba has is that the LeBron/KD/Steph era is close to over and they don’t have that superstar waiting in the wings to carry the engagement like they did
The Lakers being trash has really hurt the league. Boston is the best team but their star players are too politically correct and are just boring as fukk.

Were folks who liked and identified with A.I. tired of him missing considerably more jumpshots than he made? Or was he celebrated as an icon? All those games where he'd chuck up long 2s, shooting 5-27, 6-24, 7-23, 8-26 etc, and yet his style of play was idolized.

He was a straight-up inefficient scorer, but yet cats embraced him because of his narrative that they identified with.

You say you don't have an issue with where players come from, but you inadvertently admitted you do, hence saying the European way of playing the game has run its course.
No BubbaChuck disrespect allowed on this forum bruh

Jaylen Brown isn’t politically correct. Tatum is no less polished than Bron was. We just didn’t follow him from high school and he doesn’t have a rocafella chain.

Another all-time great who caused rule changes

Yeah the all time greats often break the game.
The 1 - 2 year of prime shaq he literally broke the game and made it infuriating to watch.
He would just bully people down in the paint. Funny enough teams have evolved to the point where they would be able to counter a dominant Shaq with the faster plays and 3 points shooting

Should have let the Olympics be a showcase for the next wave, instead they threw a farewell party and pretended like the flabby heads carried them when in reality everything was catered to their style of play:yeshrug:

that might have been the case had they won the FIBA World Cup but America can't take that Olympic L.

If you think they’re boring that’s fine but Jaylen Brown is the complete opposite of politically correct :mjlol:

And the Lakers were trash for the majority of the 2010s. They just didn’t have LeBron so mainstream media didn’t try to force them to be the main character of the league

When I say Lakers, I really meant the team Lebrons on.

I mean when you're counting on Ingram to be a leader that's what happens. If they invited Brown and played like the Celtics on steroids with AD they woulda ran everyone off the court. Instead they played like the Lakers with a Super Boobie Gibson and almost lost to plumbers and baguette bakers

They need to figure it out
But I don't think any solution involving a cap of any sort on the number of 3s taken is the way to go.
Players/teams shouldn't have to keep count of the number of a particular shot taken or any other legal basketball play.
What's next ? cap the number of dribbles or passes ?
It's just a terrible idea.
Please don't ever bring that up again or just flat out remove the 3pt shot completely from the game and problem solved right ?
Yea....

Nah. You cant put a cap on the number of steps without a dribble, right? Oh yeah they do have one
You cant put a cap on the number of seconds per possession, right? Wait, they have one
You cant put a cap on the number of fouls a player can make, right? Wait, they have one

So you can put a cap on things, for the better of the game. Coaches will adjust to it. Player has 5 fouls, hold him until the last minutes of the game.
Same thing as if the cap is 30 3's, and team has taken 27- ok, no one but Steph can shoot 3's now. The rest of you, take 2's. Its pretty simple.

Both them nikkas are boring. Storylines drive sports my friend.
The game itself drives the storylines in the most popular sports. Player storylines matter too, I don’t disagree but franchise reign supreme. Like Arsenal-Man City sells itself. Ravens-Steelers sells itself. Bill-Chiefs sells itself. The Yankees and Dodgers sold itself. The players’ games and the story surrounding the franchises is why people tune in. You’re basically saying the game isn’t enough so you need manufactured stakes to tune in. I don’t disagree that it works on the casual consumer but that’s also the problem - it’s not a long term sustainable strategy. At some point, the product and franchise itself needs to be a driver.

That hasn’t been the case in the NBA since Michael Jordan got drafted to the Bulls in ‘84, and the Bird-Celtics were facing the Magic/Kareem Lakers in that same time period. People forget how irrelevant the league was before Bird, Magic (and then Jordan a few years later) came into the league. The NBA Finals were on tape delay. No one gave a fukk about the Sonics, Blazers & Bullets in the 1970s. The league was close to being finished, and David Stern made sure that the focus became more on the players, and not the team. The NBA isn’t a sport where fans care about teams, they care about players. It’s too late for them to pivot to a league where fans care about teams. That model just won’t work. They need another face of the league to succeed LeBron & Steph. That’s the biggest issue with the league right now. There’s no marketable (American) face of the league that lures casual viewers into watching.
