show is a c00n fest. What is funny about black man raising his children without any sense of history, culture, or awareness of the stereotypes whites have about them. The narrative it tries to push is that we are in some post racial society where race relations are superficial and something harmless like a cac talking ebonics to you at work. The reality and what blacks have to teach their children is that these stereotypes can get you killed. black kids cant just wear hoodies anytime of night like white kids.. etc.. nothing really funny about that.

sad, thats how many of us think... I already know, I won't be watching this c00nery... that line alone let me know what time it is already...

You must of not seen the pilot at all....because it's STATING the problem with us and our issues with black identity. If anything it questions what does it exactly mean to be "black"? What justifies your blackness?

Everything you just stated is EXACTLY what the show is addressing. The narrative you claim is EXACTLY the opposite of what this show is.

Being black in America means you cant purchase a bb gun in walmart without running the risk of being executed before you get to your car.. black people know what it means to be black. there is no question about that. If you need a reminder step outside.

Tell me... what do it mean to be "black"? :sas2:

That aside, CLEARLY you did not watch last night's pilot, because if you DID then everything you are complaining about NOW was indeed ADDRESSED in the show last night, to INCLUDE a quip about Tracee Ellis Ross being biracial. It spoke about the father's displeasure of his children being unaware of their culture and their heritage, yet opens the debate on which is more important, being so-called "pro-black" or having your own independent individuality. It addressing how KaK's try their hardest to be down, only to view it in mockery. It points to how he was disgusted at the realization of his new promotion because it is titled "URBAN" Vice President, and refused to kiss the CEO's ass by giving them a marketing ad showing the TRUTH about what it is being black in America, which almost cost him his job. This show goes out its way not in not conforming to typical c00nin' and actually trying to send a REAL message that ALL of us go through on a daily basis.

But of course, you HAD to watch the pilot in order for you to see that.

Spoken like a c00n. Who does this ideology benefit... Cacs that's who. There is no debate. If your not aware of how your perceived as a black person in the country regardless of your individuality it can cost you your life. We don't have the luxury of being treated as individuals. cacs dont care who you are.. 90% see you as a ****** first before anything else.

How he handled that situation was no different than the clippers players turning their jerseys inside out when dealing with sterling. That's how cacs want you to react. Doesnt change anything or challenge their white power structure and you feel like you accomplished something. racism is complex and too serious an issue to tackle in a 30 minute sitcom. This show will fail regardless of intent because the subject of racism has to be watered down just to fit the format.

You just want to be arguable now. You didn't watch the show and now trying to make-up counter arguments just to cover the fact you did not watch the show. Second of all, how YOU view blackness is not the same as how OTHERS black view blackness or what it define to be black. And truthfully, if how you define blackness is through the LACK of value, then you have a SHALLOW esteem of being black. Has your esteem been high, you wouldn't care about how OTHERS view you as a black man because you have pride of how you view yourself and the proud feeling of being black. If ANYTHING you are indeed the main lead CHARACTER, Andre, who's suffering from a racial identity crisis.

You making excuses like racism is too serious to tackle in a 30 minute sitcom only points to your insecurity. OF COURSE, no sitcom would resolve problems in 30 minutes, but at LEAST this show has the balls to address them head on in all of its complexity. Also, at least it wasn't all resolved just in 30 minutes and going to be an on-going thing which is the basic premise of the show to begin with. For ONCE we have a black sitcom that actually TALK about black issues and how we are mocked by white people and someone wants to be a CRAB-ASS-IN-THE-BUCKET muthafuccka that want to complain about something they ain't EVEN take time to watch. And, I am not going to waste anymore of my time to respond to you about this.
