never had the urge to play anything from pink floyd :manny: I have a very weird taste in music: one day i'm feeling gunna shyt the next i'm running back Slipknot from MFKR to Iowa, next day i might be listening to 2pac all eyez on me
Nothing wrong with that. Just was surprised when you said you had no intentions

I was like damn, you got a personal gripe or something :russ:

But I get what you mean. Some artists I just don't feel interested enough to listen to either. And not really a specific reason why :manny:

Breh, I was about to post something similar.

Just look at what our young ppl gravitate to. GARBAGE ass microwave music of today.

I think my kids are gonna be different. My 7 yr old never heard Jay Z "Heart of the City". He was singing the OG by Bobby Blue Bland. When my boys are with my father in law, they damn sure gonna hear them classics from way back.
Exactly. My “white” school friends had thousands of vinyls passed down from their parents. Anything from The Velvet Underground to Boston etc was played in their house.

Granted, we were all musicians in some way, but even the ones who didn’t play instruments, their parents made sure they knew their music because that was their culture.

Then I look at us… well, how many of our generation and younger know we created rock? How many of us truly hold up jazz with the respect it deserves? Why is “old school hip hop” considered a relic?

I remember some ignorant hood nikkas try to say I was acting white when I carried my guitar around. :snoop:

Nothing sadder than going to a jazz festival and me my fiancée being one of the few black folk there (even in New Orelans). :francis:

I’m not sure it could be a west coast thing I’m in the south and I never heard my kid or nephews playing OutKast, Ludacris etc. Now I’ve heard them listening to Gucci but not even Lil Wayne.
My kids know Outkast could be a West Coast thing or could also be the music I play sometimes in the car ....but they always ask who that is if the beat is good or feel the lyrics....

I personally don’t see anything wrong with just wearing something because you the design. It’d be different if they were wearing the shirt while proclaiming their love for the artist but not know at least the radio hits.

I hate seeing black folk with Jimi Hendrix shirt on...can't name one fukking song and be rocking tees....smh... this island black folk obsession with Black Panther..I hate bandwagon ass folk :camby:
Remember the scene in White Men Can’t Jump when Wesley Snipes said “Jimi’s rhythm section wasn’t white”? And Woody’s character corrected him?

That scene always irked me. That movie was made in 1992, 22 years after Jimi’s death. I refuse to believe someone would be that ignorant about Jimi then. But maybe they were. I heard black folk didn’t really fukk with Jimi back when he was alive. :yeshrug:

I wasn’t aware so many kids these days wore shirts with artists names/logos on them like that. Wasn’t a huge trend for me growing me up.

What state was this filmed in?

And who the HELL expects a 13-14 year old to know any Metallica or Pink Floyd songs?!? Like I said i’m surprised its even a trend like that amongst the youth to be rocking artists shirts like that

Just proves my point about how we don’t hold our legends with the reverence white folk does. :francis:

Wu Tang can go to Europe and are treated like Gods. “Old school” rappers stay making serious bread overseas.
