Grateful Dead, Def Leppard, and H.E.R. are the only ones I didn't know a song from.
Def Leppard -
pour some sugar on me

Its their signature song. You definitely heard at least once in your life.

It is funny seeing kids rock Def Lepperd shirts lol. I’ve always been saying why can’t they put like Cameo, Lakeside, SOS Band, Midnight Starr shirts in these stores? The kids don’t know these old white bands so you know they don’t know the old black ones. I wear shirts from artists i like. :yeshrug:
There are not many shirts from old black bands.

Except the Isley brothers, sly stone and the family and the wind earth and fire ones.

I want to get my hands on a Morris day and the time or Frankie Beverly and the maze shirt.

Jimi hendrix experience and Bob marley & the wailers the only one I've seen get t shirts made like that

Parliament/Funkadelic had MAD shirts, breh, as did Rick James and the Jackson 5.

I didn't really check for other groups too much back then, but you're correct in that there weren't many.

EDIT: Just remembered, The Commodores and Lakeside also had a bunch of shirts.

Graphic Ts are what’s in now. Most of these kids are buying shirts because of the design and probably just to match their shoes/outfits

I agree with your last comment.

Because you can search what you want on YouTube or Spotify, you listen to exactly what you want to listen to.

In the old days, you were exposed to whatever some radio station or DJ curated for their playlist. If you watched MTV, you might have seen their countdown and waited for a TLC song you liked but in the meantime you got exposed to Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Stuff like that did help to expose you to artists you may never have considered.

I do question how much of that happens these days.
Tiktok actually helps with this since every video has music playing. A lot of old songs have Charted due to this
I don't think anyone in my high school tattoos. What type of parent is letting their kid get a tattoo in high school?
Your parents generation didn’t have tattoos. These kids parents are all heavily tatted, no one views tattoos as big deal other than older boomers
Can’t lie I’ve never understood the psychology behind wearing the shirt of an artist/band you don’t know, let alone like.
The dumbest person in the world can understand style vs fandom. What does that Make you?
