I also hear the Book of Malazan books are a favorite among ASOIAF fans.

The series is called:

The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It is 10 books. However, there are some other books that are considered side stories.

I am on book 7 right now and enjoying the series greatly.

These books are not what I would call easy reads though.

malazan is def the closest to ASOIAF I've read as far as tone/seriousness although there's a lot more magic/mystical type shyt. Books 2-7 for the most part for the most part were as good as any in the game of thrones series. It kind of trailed off for the last few but still worth finishing. I copped the first book of the first law series recently gonna start up on that soon

I started reading Gardens of the Moon a couple days ago. That shyt had me straight :wtf: for the first 50 pages. If you can keep all the names somewhat in order, use context clues to figure out some of the jargon, and not get frustrated it's a good read. I'm only 150 pages in though :manny:

One of y'all should get a Malazan thread going :steviej:

My bad breh on the first part.

Keep up on the malazan books tho, the first book is a clusterfukk, ericksson purposely throws you in a world not knowing what the fukk is going on. If you can get to book 3 :wow: shyt gone blow your mind. Keep an eye on fiddler, Quick ben and Kalam, they put in work and Quick Ben and Kalam are negroes :lolbron:

I already peep Tattersails is giving my nikka Kalam the eye:blessed: Ain't she fat tho?:scusthov: The Bridgeburners seem like some thorough cats. The gods being involved is interesting so far. My dude Quick Ben is like a Jay-Z lyric: the black Gandalf or something :skip:

Yea, Garden's of the Moon is a tough read. Initially, very confusing. If you can get past Garden's the following books are not nearly as confusing but still not easy reads compared to ASOIAF.

The Malazan series is truly epic though. I am looking forward to finishing this series which I intend to do within the next few months.

There are loads and loads and loads of characters in the Malazan series and it easily dwarfs ASOIAF in that regard.
