Which is basically the only reason Robert was the one the triumvirate put forth for the Throne. King and Targaryen are so synonymous in the Seven Kingdoms they feared not nearly enough people would get behind their cause if Ned (or Jon Arryn even though he was an elder statesman, beloved and respected Hand of the King, and longest reigning Warden) was to be king. There's some REAL heft in that decision and what it says for the social programming in Westeros

not only that but Robert's Targaryen grandmother Rhaelle made him 1/4 dragon, so his whole anti Targaryen campaign was based on self hate and jealousy

Lannisters would have had no allies. Tywin didn't make a move against the alliance because there was no move to make at that time. If Ned dies in Kings Landing Robert just burns the whole city down when he gets there after the Trident.

I couldn't remember whether or not the Lannisters had already gotten to the Keep after they let Neds mans in or if Jamie was solo. If he was solo yeah North Gang Bang Bang stabs him up real quick

3 years since my reread in anticipation of winds of the winter dropping.

I googled and saw this from last month, don't know if it's been posted.

Martin said this week on his personal site, Not a Blog, that "Winds" won't come out until after the first volume of his House Targaryen history, "Fire & Blood," is published.

And when will "Fire & Blood" arrive? Martin said only, "The first volume should be completed soon. The second is hardly begun."

But one fan ventured to ask what this means for "Winds of Winter" timing, and Martin actually answered, saying "F&B will be in two volumes. Vol 1 before ('Winds of Winter'), Vol 2 after." He didn't go into more detail.

I'm tired of this nikka man.

this dude stays taking on other projects, some of those being in the ASOIAF world is just insulting. Why don't try to cash in on the fandom by, I don't know, just delivering the book they are all waiting forI'm glad I didn't cop the world of ice and fire and downloaded the dunk & egg books because I won't spend my money on anything but the main series.

wish I never started reading those damn books after season 2 of the show

Assuming that a 1v1 would bring chaos to the city regardless of outcome, the north and eyrie alliance had numbers over any westerlands right?

Imagine KL being sacked and then being gutted again a few hours later

Yeah, there's just no W for the Lannisters to be had there. Tyrells of course are a force, but they're way down south laying siege on Storms End. Now, if Tywin wants to bring Jamie home, link up with the Martels and Tyrells and throw a bone to the Greyjoy's to try and disrupt Stark supply trains then we have ourselves a situation. But, stepping aside and getting your daughter to be Queen is really the best and easiest W to be had there.

Everyone is lucky Bam Bam Barantheon didn't pull up on KL first. Would have been a doomsday for the whole situation. Don't even want to imagine what woulda gone down if they slid on his boy Ned too

The North, the vale, the riverlands, the stormlands were all allies. Ain't there greyjoys already take that L? Can't see queen of Thornes staying on a sinking ship.

That's what kills me. Apparently he's only working on one of them very hard but even that is a huge time commitment. He constantly switches from one distraction to another, while promising the change will give him more time. He used to go to every convention he was invited to...then towards the end of the Dance writing process he peeled back on that. BUT then he bought a theater and started doing other business stuff, plus editing. Then he stopped editing multiple books...BUT then started working on TV pilots.


I got zero faith in the book coming out this year. Which is pathetic on multiple levels, the biggest of which is that S7 won't even start this year. Meaning S2-S7 will have potentially premiered and ended before he put out one fukking book.

Been reading since shortly after ASOS came out but I think I'm done man. I don't think about the books anymore, don't enjoy the show, no longer read theories or all that shyt I used to enjoy. When Winds comes out I'll get it first day of course, but until then I got zero interest in discussing this shyt.
