On one hand, I'm happy to help a few hundred people that got screwed out of their internet community and daily past time/relief through no fault of their own - at the same time....
That was only a small minority either way but I still gotta laugh a bit.
Even though our initial group came from the same place, it just reaffirms why we departed from that entire theme. Not that I got anything against reset at all. Some really good people over there and wish them all the best, but its still far too close to what made gaf offputting to many in a lot of ways. A lot of people dig the vibe at slaent and are already setting up shop, so I don't regret of any of it

Original ideas definitely still linger - focus around longer posts (wanted to be a platform for aspiring journalists, bloggers, writers in general), streamed content, art/design stuff. Its why we also don't emphasize on post counts, join dates, post count. The overall goal is all about highlighting content, then letting the community revolve around that. In the next few weeks we'll likely formally start looking to reach out officially to content creators and smaller, more focused communities in order to test our framework in that regard.
But then we also like to shoot the shyt like everyone else because this isn't a full-time job for us by any means.

Actually, I didn't sign up for a long time here and just lurked because this seemed like a website for black folks under thirty (and I'm over thirty) and because I also thought that registration was restricted. I've lurked for years, though. I'm glad to be here.
Resetera will be good for browsing the news and for some of the top 10/100/GotY/GotD lists they do, which I always find impressive, but I am thankful to have a place to talk games with mostly black folks, and I definitely wouldn't want to talk politics there as opposed to here. I learned my lesson about that.

I mean, I think you guys did them a massive solid. Not only did you take them in, but you actually changed the design of the site just accommodate them.
Then basically, as soon as ResetEra looked like it was gonna be a an actual thing, it was like a big fukk you. Especially as like you said, they were complaining about the layout then jumped into a forum circa 2002.
Regardless, you should be proud of what you have done and many people are greatful for it, myself included. Props.

For sure this place is youth orientated, like hiphop as a culture is. But it's origins came from a much older site and some of the founding heads are easily in their mid 30s and some are approaching their 40s.
It just seems like people are younger because unlike somewhere like Gaf, people just shoot the shyt and clown.. It's more a stress relief spot than a place for "serious discourse"
At the end of the day, this forum game isn't that serious and if it is for someone, they need to reassess their priorities in life
I actually feel kinda bad @LinusCaldwell hit me up a while back but because of circumstances on OUR end, I wasn't able to move forward. I shot them an email and I don't think it ever got through.
There's no animosity on our side for sure.

Yeah, you can draw a massive line with Evilore and how Femme, Retta and Co was acting at the death of Sohh.
Banning users for mentioning the site, censoring the name, digging up in PMs...
Soon we will see the begging post asking members not to leave.
It's also mad ironic that the weeks and months before this happened, the site was hitting users with bare fukked up adverts that were giving people malware, redirects and phishing links. Just like Sohh.
