It's a bit deceptive cause they played three games against bottom-8 defenses. But the aggression and confidence is still a big plus.
Lonzo especially is one of those players who puts up points against bad teams and then disappears against good teams. It'll be interesting to see how they look against OKC, which has a far better defense even if they've been slumping a little recently. After that game there are two more crap defenses and then some mediocre teams. If I'm the Lakers I'm holding LeBron out at least another 5 games just to give the young guys more burn against slightly better defenses.
It's why some of us happy they get more burn.... They should be able to keep this going once LeBron is back and keep his minutes at 30-32
People always say "could be a blessing in disguise" when a star's injury allows other guys to get more burn, but this is one time where it really might be true. If they can carry more aggressiveness and confidence into playing alongside LeBron it would go a long ways.
Eh, I still only rate GSW and OKC as being real problems in the playoffs for the Lakers.
For me that's waaaay too confident for a team that has no reliable center, no guards you can trust to shoot, a coach who should be on his way out and no playoff experience for most of the core.
Tell me which of these possible outcomes would surprise you:
#1. Lonzo averages 6ppg on 28% shooting in his first playoff series ever.
#2. Ingram plays generally disappointing
#3. Ball/Hart/KCP/Kuzma/Ingram combine to shoot only 32% from three in the playoffs.
#4. McGee/Chandler/Zubac all get destroyed in the middle
#5. Luke throws away at least one game each series with nonsensical fourth-quarter lineups
If your guards can't shoot, your centers can't defend, your coach can't coach and most of your lineup is inexperienced...you could lose to just about anyone.
