To be fair, Obama didn't have the whole social media alt-right ecosphere working against him in 2008/2012.

Yes, there was FOX News, which is more than bad enough, but it's not the same. I'm not sure Obama could win in 2024.
I mean, these people all emerged as a reaction to Obama. So it would be an entirely alternate world regardless. You would also have a world where no person of color had ever won so that might motivate turnout as well. It’s kind of hard to say.

You can’t have meaningful discussions without abandoning trans policy from democrats culturally. No one is listening to us if we can’t agree on reality first.
I'm going have to admit this. They have tone down on the trans and lgbtq stuff.
They are still welcomed in the party but we cannot include that as a platform issue.
The right exploits it because it's a divisive issue.

I often wish Obama hadn’t run because the backlash itself created this ecosystem.

the government has been at war with leftists at home and abroad for nearly a century. we dont really know what the true capacity for the left could be
It’s been a global war too.

A lot of the dictatorships that came out of colonialism was due to US military hijinks targeting leftists.

This is after they killed and imprisoned so many here in the late 1800s to post WW1.

However, our last legislative elections, the working class voted 57% for the far right and 21% for NFP. If we look at education, people without a college degree voted at 49% for RN and 17% for NFP. And the thing is that the middle class/high educated are actually the backbone of NFP voters.
One thing I dislike about whatever constitutes the left today is the lack of community engagement not ties to politics.

Do you think if they actually did, they would succeed in getting votes from the working class/uneducated ?
they did in the past. FDR's new deal politics realigned america's voting patterns and coalitions. it still wasnt very far left on an international scale, but it was a first shot at a comprehensive left-leaning vision for society. today's politicians like AOC reference it to try to associate their policies with it since it was so successful (green new deal).

Black people were purposely kept out of many FDR/New Deal programs.

That's why it was popular and remembered fondly, but that fact is something you won't see mentioned, by white people.

Black people were def kept out, but that don't mean those policies, and expanding on it, still won't work.

If Kamala came out months ago talking about a federal jobs guarantee program designed to bring high speed rail to America, do you think white people would be upset working with a black and Hispanic person?

One thing I dislike about whatever constitutes the left today is the lack of community engagement not ties to politics.
And that’s part of their problem even with podcasts - there is a community of listeners, they go through certain experiences together like how we used to all watch the same shows. No one feels like they’re in community with democrats except their leadership. It’s more of a social thing and status symbol than any sort of team. They idolize big wigs in their party that no one else cares about. I had so many black people telling me - who the fukk are these people visiting our office and why aren’t we engaging with any black people with a pulse on their communities. The consultant class is literally just another job on the resume but it’s not meaningful or connected to anything. The reason Dems run feckless campaigns because they want republicans to be their friends because at the end of the day, they’re all white people. They want to win over their cousins or boost people like them. They don’t realize that they’re not the cool kids. Like who was the whole “childless cat lady” campaign supposed to motivate?
