They don't have to play, but that's honestly why Kanter is playing. With McDermott there's a massive hole at SF so he's going to get minutes to see if he can do anything, but Kanter makes enough that playing him is mandatory, you'll see Noah get minutes over Willy when he's ready to go as well.

I disagree. High I.Q. player, who shoots and cuts, decent athlete in space for a white boy. On another team he would be doing a lot better, you're talking about a 6'8 guy who is a career 39% 3PT and a guy who was a big time NCAA scorer. I don't think he was bad in Chicago and Oklahoma City. He has potential to be a pretty good role player.

I actually agree. He does shoot and cut, and he's actually a surprisingly bouncy athlete.

But I have to correct you on one point - he's BEEN on other teams. 3 of them BEFORE he got here. And he's never been consistently serviceable. He's still relatively young, and there's time for him to improve - but I don't know. Unless he becomes a knockdown shooter at 40% or better - I just have not seen much from him (thus far) that makes me think he can consistently be useful in NBA games.

That being said - I'd like to be wrong. I think he's smart, I'd like to think there's enough basketball skill there to be a back of the rotation shooter, who also cuts off the ball. I just haven't seen it displayed in games.

It's waaay too early, but I'll tell you what's impressed me about him is that he's impacting the stat sheet everywhere else even while his shooting has been down. More than 3 boards per, more than 2 assists per, .7's in blocks and steals per game and 47% from the field while he can't buy a three pointer. I don't expect those averages to stick based on his history but I can see that he's trying to earn his minutes in ways that certain others haven't (Tim Hardaway) over the first three games. But the key is that it's only been three games...dude has to keep it up AND start stretching the floor like he's supposed to.

The point is, we’re not arguing that bledsoe and KP will carry us to the 8th seed. I won’t speak for others, but for me the issue is those two can easily 30-35 games, obviously miss the playoffs but also risk losing a top 3 pick and worse case end up picking between 6-8, that’s exactly what happned this year.

That’s what I don’t want. In a perfect world, we build our 3 young players KP, willy and frank, be competitive while we lose and secure the first pick so we get the “pick of the litter”. That’s the perfect world scenario, in a good world we still get a top 3 pick where we’re guaranteed doncic, porter or bagley. Top 5 isn’t even bad because you still have bamba and aynton. But in a cruel fukkin world we get a 6-8 pick and end up with a miles bridges or sexton

So let's say we land Bledsoe, Frank has an All rookie first team season, we win about 35 games, miss playoffs, and get a 6-8 pick? That's bad? That's progress to me. Why wouldn't a pick in that area be able to add to the building blocks we already have? Fultz was the consensus #1 pick. Look at him. There are no guarantees with any picks 1-29. Bledsoe is under 30 and headed into his prime. He could also be flipped for an asset down the road.

Should NY allow themselves to be raped for him? No. So I'm negging anyone who quotes this and acts like that's what I'm saying here. But shyt man alotta good players have been had this past summer for scraps. Why not us for a change?
