I just want the production values to be right. Also, I wonder how many times if any, will the camera pan to Al Haymon.

You know whats funny...i think this current day version of salido would still beat the shyt out of current day version of guerrero lol

If you notice, it was after that fight where Ghost really went hardcore into that mauling no defense style he's hell bent on. Dude used to have more finesse to his game especially with his footwork and general movement.

Dude used to be slick and unless he reverts back to when he was really the ghost he's going to get beat down...Kamegai fight was not a good look

Focused Broner finishing camp in Las Vegas before PBC debut
Mar 03, 2015 By Sean DeFrank

Three-time world champion Adrien Broner moved his training camp to Las Vegas last week for his final preparations for his Premier Boxing Champions debut on March 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Training camp has been a bit different this time around for Broner, with the birth of his son, Adrieon, coming just weeks before his 140-pound bout against John Molina Jr. in front of a national television audience on NBC. Yet the self-titled “Mr. NBC” has displayed a heightened level of focus as he prepares to fight on the biggest stage of his fledgling career. Here are some snapshots from one of Broner’s final training sessions in Vegas before his network TV debut.

Broner: If I Don't Stop Him, It'll Be a Bloody Massacre
Posted by: Random Hits on 3/3/2015

A new era of boxing has arrived and on March 7 fight fans around the country will be able to get the first look at the next generation of boxing stars.

PBC on NBC on Saturday, March 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena is promoted by Goossen Promotions and features Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guerrero and Adrien Broner vs. John Molina, Jr. that will air live on NBC (8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT).

Broner said the following about his upcoming fight: "John Molina Jr. is a true warrior. His nickname suits him. He's like a punching bag that can hit back with power. He's a deadly fighter. It can only take a second for a fight to change dramatically with a guy like that, so I'm taking this fight very seriously. I'll be ready though.

I'm loving this card. Would have gave Molina a better chance before the Lucas beating. He's coming off two loses. If AB doesn't look good I don't know what to say. They are doing everything possible to make this dude look good.

I'm loving Thurman-Guerrero. I've never been someone who buys into hype. You have to prove it in the ring before I become sold. I don't care how much power or how flashy you appear to be. This is by far the best guy Thurman has ever fought & he needs to show he looks more than the part. He looks like that nygga, but he needs to show he is that nygga.

The only fighter I've EVER seen when I bought into the hype & said he was gonna be that nygga was when Paul Williams beat the shyt out of Walter Matthysee. I was really amazed & that doesn't happen too often.

Abner Mares Focused To Impress, Show He's Back
Posted by: Boxing Clever on 3/3/2015

Abner Mares insists he's not lost his boxing skills since that almighty jolt from Jhonny González in August of 2013. After more than a year since he lost his undefeated record, along with the WBC featherweight title, Abner urgently wants to erase any question marks with precise punctuation.

“I didn’t lose anything in that bout with Gonzalez. I learned lots from that fight and now I'm focused in returning even better than before,” stressed Mares.

Since that defeat on August 24th, the three time world champion in different divisions has had two fights, where he appeared to have a touch of trouble and a spot of bother in regaining the previous fluency of his rhythm.

This Saturday he will have a great opportunity to shine, when he faces another former Olympic boxer, Arturo Santos, at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

“I have to go out and convince. I am going to get into the ring and offer up a tremendous show," earnestly promised Mares.

Retracing steps in a quest for the perfect balance and blend, Abner is back to the future, once again linking up with coach Clemente Medina, with who he conquered the WBC super bantamweight and featherweight titles.

If Abner Mares (28-1-1, 15KO´s) defeats Santos (18-4, 5KO) he wants to take on Leo ‘Terremoto’ Santa Cruz, who's keen to clamber up a division.

Leave the hand-picking to others, says John Molina: ‘Fighters fight’

Andreas Hale
March 3, 2015

John Molina knows why he was selected to face Adrien Broner in the co-main event of “Premier Boxing Champions’” debut show on NBC this weekend. For the inaugural event, Al Haymon wanted to ensure there would be fireworks and what better way to deliver than to put the polarizing Broner in the ring with the blue-collar worker who has always brought the fight?

“As soon as this fight was brought to my attention I said, ‘Where do I sign?’” Molina told RingTV about how his showdown with the former three-division world champion came about. “I’m not one of these guys that sits there and hand-picks his opponents. I’m the guy that says, ‘Line them up and I’ll fight them all.’”

That’s what has made Molina so endearing to fight fans. Molina may not have the best record in the business at 27-5 (22 knockouts) and he may be viewed as a huge underdog against the talented Broner (29-1, 22 KOs), but if Molina is going to go down, he’ll go down swinging. For the uninitiated, Molina turned heads after being dominated by Mickey Bey for just about every minute of every round back in 2013 only to shock the boxing world with a thrilling 10th-round TKO. Against Lucas Matthysse last April, the duo set the StubHub Center on fire with a barnburner that Molina ended up losing by 11th-round knockout. Fans knew from that point that Molina was must-see TV.

“I think my career is based off of those fights and the fans gravitate toward me because of how I fight,” Molina explained of the two fights that have helped turn him into a fan favorite. His approach to every fight has very little to do with safety and cruising to a victory off of points. Instead, Molina is here to fight rather than simply box. Not that the 5-foot-11 junior welterweight can’t box, it’s just that he chooses to suck his opponents into a dogfight. He admittedly might not be the most athletically gifted fighter around, but you’ll be hard pressed to find another boxer with a heart bigger than his.

John-Molina-vs-Soto-al-bello-getty.jpg

“I fight for the everyday man,” Molina said while also citing how he is thankful that he can make a living as a boxer and will never take it for granted. “I am a provider for my family and that’s why my heart comes through in every fight that I’m in.”

It’s that mentality that has separated Molina from other fighters and has landed him in prime position to take out the popular and controversial Broner and thrust his name into the upper echelon of the sport. Molina went so far as to call Broner his “lottery ticket that he has to cash in.”

There has been talk that Broner may find difficulty with a pressure-fighter like Molina. The last time Broner was in the ring with a hard-hitting pressure-fighter, Marcos Maidana scored the biggest victory of his career and punched his ticket to two fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. But Molina doesn’t believe that Broner will be the same fighter he was against the Argentine.

“You are kind of fooling yourself if you think you can bank on what one man did to another man if you haven’t been in the ring with him before,” Molina said. “There are definitely things you can gain, like his mannerisms and how he conducted himself under that kind of pressure. But we have a game plan and plan on implementing it on March 7.”

When asked about Broner’s last two fights since the Maidana loss, Molina says that he certainly saw a few things he could take advantage of. But, perhaps more importantly, he figures that he’ll be able to touch Broner with more than “The Problem” has been touched with in the previous 24 rounds.

“I’m definitely not Emmanuel Sanders or Carlos Molina,” Molina said. “Not to take anything away from them. They don’t have the pop that I have. I don’t think he will be too willing to engage in this fight as he was with them.”

Regardless of whether Broner’s ego gets the best of him and he engages in a firefight or if he opts to dance away from Molina’s power, Molina believes he’s going to take Broner out of his comfort zone and deliver 12 rounds of warfare.

Whatever happens after that is anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure, Molina isn’t looking to be “Mr. NBC,” “Mr. HBO” or “Mr. Entertainment.” He’s a fighter and that’s all that matters.

“Fighters fight, whether it be in a backyard or on any network,” Molina said when asked if he wants to make NBC his new home. “I’m not going to change my name to Mr. HBO or Mr. Showtime or Mr. NBC, it’s not about that. It’s about going out there and fighting. I don’t train to be ‘Mr.’ anything. A fighter is what I am and that’s why people gravitate towards me.”

Keith Thurman says he’ll bring back ‘KOs for Life’ vs. Robert Guerrero
Andreas Hale
March 3, 2015

Thurman-Guerrero_feature.jpg

By now you’ve heard Keith “One Time” Thurman’s motto: KOs for Life.

It’s an excellent motto for boxing fans to latch on to. And, for the most part, he’s come through on his promise. Twenty one of his 24 victories have been stopped by the undefeated Floridian’s impressive punching power. If Thurman has his way, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero will become victim No. 22 when they meet on the inaugural Premier Boxing Champions card on NBC, which emanates from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.

“I don’t expect him to last 12 rounds,” Thurman told RingTV.com with the utmost confidence. “He takes a punch to give one and I only need one. It won’t be a knockdown, it will be a knockout and it doesn’t matter if it’s to the head or the body.”

The 26 year old’s confidence might be viewed as taking his opponent a little too lightly. After all, Guerrero sports a 32-2-1 record and has never been stopped. His only losses have come at the hands of Gamaliel Diaz in 2005 and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013. The latter is at the hands of the reigning pound-for-pound king, so you can’t really hold that against him. Regardless, the Guerrero family has certainly scoffed at Thurman’s claims considering that “One Time” couldn’t get rid of 40-year-old Leonard Bundu in his last outing.

When asked about his last performance and the boos that came from the crowd, Thurman responds with relative indifference.

“People probably did want a more entertaining fight and I could have done more but I was pitching a shutout,” he said in a “what-more-do-you-want-from-me” tone. As for the jeers, Thurman believes it had nothing to do with his performance. “I saw the booing as Amir Khan fans hating on Keith Thurman,” he explained. “The booing wasn’t coming from the whole arena. The majority was coming from a certain section.”

He is aware that the decision victory goes against his “KOs for life” motto and is also privy to the expectations to deliver another fan pleasing knockout on March 7. Considering that he is headlining Al Haymon’s initial foray into bringing boxing back to network television, Thurman realizes the weight on his shoulders to entertain as well as win.

“I get an opportunity to bring boxing back,” Thurman said of being called to headline the “PBC on NBC” card. “The more exciting it is the more its going to be talked about and more people are going to be curious about tuning into the next show on NBC and eventually the next Keith Thurman fight. It’s a great opportunity to build our fan base in one fight.”

If Thurman can put away Guerrero in impressive fashion under the national spotlight on free television, he’ll surely garner a great deal of attention. And that attention should translate into Thurman becoming one of boxing’s most marketable names outside of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. For Thurman, he believes that a victory against Guerrero on prime time will ensure that the welterweight division can no longer duck getting into the ring with him.

“That’s what we are going for,” Thurman says. “We already got Guerrero in the ring and we’ll see who else we can get.”

One of the names that Thurman has on his hit list is Argentinean slugger Marcos Maidana, who Thurman believes can help propel him into a possible showdown with Mayweather. But Thurman doesn’t mind waiting in line for Mayweather, just as long as he gets to beat down boxing’s best in the process. And if he loses on the way, so what? He’ll just keep fighting.

“Like I always say, I have an ‘0’ and I ain’t afraid to let it go,” Thurman proclaims. “People are afraid to lose in the world of boxing. I’m not afraid. Besides, this a sport and in most sports you win some and lose some. These guys don’t want to put themselves into any high risk. But I told everyone last year that we can’t play this waiting game forever.”
