Kemet/Kush are more mainstream,for obvious reasons much more is understood about the Nile Valley dynasties than other African civilizations in general and going back to that point due to little research/neglect Ancient Egypt is like the only African civilization which we know much about that thrived independent of Eurasian(Islam, whitewashed modern Christianity) influence.
while i'm aware of other advanced African civilizations(The Great Zimbabwe, or pre Islam Mali,Sabea,etb) you would be hard pressed to find much idetailed nfo on them

My tribe for instance is in East Africa by the large lake Victoria. It's the source of the nile. Might be biggest lake in the world if my facts are straight. Or second biggest.
