:ohhh:

So they were dispersed into other regions of the continent?

Which is why I asked you have you read about the Green Sahara?

It was not until the Sahara became really moist and had tons of vegetation that you see MASS migrations to West and Central Africa.

If you know about Chadic people like the Hausa and Fula then you know they are of East African origin linguistically and genetically yet live in West and Central Africa. Central Africa also being where the Bantu migration began.

We are all connected by the Nile. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. All these civilizations, including Egypt, are babies of the Nile. Egypt gets the most attention because it is the closest to the Nile and thus has a longer, richer, more studied history.

Are you the descendant of an enslaved African? Take a DNA test. People in West Africa are of course aware if they are one of the Chadic pastoralist groups that you will find in Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, etc.

But even Niger-Congo people were most likely on the Nile during the Green Sahara and got absorbed into Dynastic Egyptian society as the Sahara dried into desert.

It's apart of our history. Fact. Just not the most recent. BTW I rarely research ancient Egypt I find West African history very interesting. Pretty much all I study. But, I'm curious as to why you, unprovoked, decided to make a thread attacking those who are interested in a more ancient civilization of ours. Does their interest in Egypt somehow stop me from reading about the inner workings of society in Loango in the 16th century? Do you attack Europeans who focus on ancient Greece?

Wolof in Senegal

Yoruba in Nigeria

Bamileke in Cameroon

Akan in Ghana

Those on top of my head I can think of. This isn't to say that those and other tribes were "ancient egyptian" per se (that would be those in present day North Sudan I think). But that their ancestors, at least, were there at the time.

There's a great thread about it here: http://www.forumbiodiversity.com/sh...s-Have-Any-Connections-to-Ancient-Egypt/page5

Depending on the tribe / ethnic group, if you look far enough, you can find a connection to Ancient Egypt along the way.

If I'm way off somewhere, someone please correct me.
