9/30/2023: SHO PPV - Canelo vs Charlo (Undisputed Super Middleweight Championship)

I've been rewatching some of Mell's fights & he has a damn good underrated left hook with excellent timing & placement. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he caught Canelo & hurt him with it at some point; especially a temple shot

I was halfway being facetious because dudes were running into Spence Vs. Crawford saying it had zero hype, and that shyt had wayyyyyyyyyy more hype than this fight. I haven’t heard one non-boxing fan talking about this fight. The All Access has been on YouTube damn near three days and hasn’t done a million views. Spence/Crawford All Access did that in a day.

A lot of people see this farce ass fight for what it is.

For all the wayyyyyyyyy more hype. Spence v Crawford, couldn't even match Canelo v Plant numbers.. You actually convinced yourself, this will do less?

Was it farce when Hopkins, Canelo, Pac, Duran - all went up 2 weights, and won?

Yea and mell is good at those in between shots. He's fast and awkward with his angles. Which is prolly why canelo's working on that head movement. He knows he can't get caught. Jermell gotta put his punches together though. 1-2 at a time won't cut it. Let off combo's and don't be afraid to let off first. Get canelo to counter and catch him coming in.

If this is the sluggish plodding canelo of the last 3 performances, jermell wins as long as he stays on point defensively. It'll be easy for jermell to move around and frustrate him. Now if canelo comes in agile and sharp like that saunders fight I'll take canelo by late tko. There's a lot of variables in this fight. Could see it going a few different ways. But either way I see it being very competitive and possibly great. High level chess from the start. These are my favorite kind of matchups. Two guys with skill who can also hurt eachother.

Those fighters are who you’re comparing Jermell Charlo to concerning this fight being made ? Yo’ I be feeling insane talking to some of you dudes. Charlo is a good fighter. He’s had a really good career. He’s also the dude that has gotten throughly outboxed by Tony Harrison (twice to be real). Like, you dudes be pulling on the coattails of literal all-time greats to justify bullshyt ass fights from guys that are nowhere near that level .

Everyone wants to see Canelo fight David. He goes and fights a good fukking junior middleweight coming off a 16 month layoff by the time they fight, and the boxing public is supposed to be so enthralled and captivated . What’s the old adage? Nothing kills a fighter faster than inactivity?

Charlo is just a name in this scenario that Canelo is leveraging not to fight David. That’s it. Jermell is not winning this fight, and Canelo knows that. shyt, Jermell knows that. He’s become overly reliant on his power getting him outta adverse situations, and he not going to be able to hurt Canelo, so that’s huge issue number one. If people are expecting dude to turn into Lara all of sudden, they’re fukking dreaming. I’m not even mad at Jermell. Get your money, but let’s be real about what this is. It’s Canelo with the bullshyt.

I also hate talking boxing with people like @((ReFleXioN)) EteRNaL because they’re such nonstop penis riders that they talk out of both sides of their mouth. He’s talking up Charlo so if by some happenstance Charlo wins—he can say, “Man, Canelo out here fighting killers. I always new this would be a fought fight.” Simultaneously, if Canelo wins, which he will unless some HBO Legendary Nights shyts happens, he can say, “Oh, shyt! Canelo is back! He fought this killer and won!”

It’s an appeal to both sides kinda argument that I see through. The whole shyt is fugazi. I don’t even think he’s permanently ducking David, but all this, “I don’t wanna fight Mexicans anymore,” and “They never sent the contract,” is fukking ducking!?!!

As far as Plant doing more than Spence Vs. Crawford. That fight had a lot of hype after the press conference slap heard around the world, and Plant is popular. Dude has fought on national TV several times and does good numbers. There’s also added race component there that I don’t even need to address, and I mean that in the context of both fighters.

The point is, Canelo is not fukking perfect. All fighters pull some bullshyt at times, and this fight is some bullshyt from Canelo. It’s not even undisputed Vs. Undisputed. Let’s call it lineal JMW versus undisputed SMW or something. shyt is three card monty and dudes are bringing up fukking Roberto Duran .

We get it. This fight is a joke. But you still gonna be here watching with everyone else. This is gonna be a good ass fight. And I'm giving canelo major props if he can dominate. Would I put it on the level of a victory over david?....of course not. But that's gonna come soon. Canelo didn't sign a 3 fight deal with PBC If David wasn't on the agenda. So don't know why you're stressing so hard about it. That fight is happening. And canelo will win like he always does.

Now onto this fight. Jermell definitely got the pop to hurt canelo. Mainly cause he's got the speed and awkwardness to catch canelo with shots he doesn't see. When canelo fought little g he could brace for a lot of those shots cause little g was slower and more predictable. He could roll with a lot of them and reduce their impact. Canelo lately has been getting caught cleaner. Reflexes slowing down. More neck snapping punches are getting in. Even by John Ryder. And jermell 100% has more pop than Ryder. And is a way better fighter.

Styles make fights. We've seen smaller guys move up and give bigger guy fits with their speed and quickness. Canelo did it to kovalev. B hop did it to tarver. Roy did it to ruiz. Did you believe these fights were farces too?


But it is what it is. I think this is a good matchup. You think it's a "farce". I don't really care. You'll be wrong about this matchup just like you were wrong about bud vs Spence

You're definitely right but I wouldn't discount Mell for a few reasons & I'll tell you why & see if you agree or can see where I'm getting at.

A - Mell's a damn good counter puncher with either hand with legit power at JMW. He can turn your lights out with 1 shot. At the least, his power should be respectable
B- Fighters are usually cautious of counter punchers, especially ones with power & Canelo would be foolish to not think so
C- Mell knows how to set traps & run you into something you don't even see & those are the most dangerous shots. You know it doesn't matter how good your chin is. If you don't see the punch coming...........

I only list these things because Mell a great fighter with tremendous timing & accuracy. If Canelo gets hit in the temple with one of those well placed shots, I can see him on wobbly legs

All of sudden he got goals. No unifications, stripped twice, didn't enter WBSS. Avoided the ring champ, turned down a shot at 3 belts, that could of lead to an undisputed bout at 175. Dude jus being used to slander Canelo, bc it ain't based of body of work. Benavidez is perfect, bc u can discredit either way. "Oh Canelo ducked him." If he loses "David was never nobody anyway."

Charlo is just happy to be there. He's not coming to win. He's already laying the seeds for his loss. First, he was saying how he was bigger than the Canelo, then he said Nelo is bigger than him and that 168 isn't his weight class.
